The feds have been putting pressure on banks to stop taking accounts for businesses they do not approve of. So far, they've gone after accounts of the porn industry and gun stores. I fully expect them to target tobacco stores in the near future. They do this by suggesting to the bank that they would find it necessary to conduct thorough and repeated audits if the banks work with "less than desirable" businesses.
I am watching the "new generation" use the internet/web browser. They don't do it the way we (I?) did. They have little concept of "url" or web site address. Any resource they access is entered into the ever-present search box or "magic combo url bar", as series of search terms or a common name. They rely on the (non-standartized but helpful) search subsystem (usually, Google, but not always) to bring them to the right place.
So in other words, AOL keywords.
not sure how new of a generation you mean but I see this every day from 6th - 12th graders.
Even when being explicitly told what to type and where most will end up at the wrong URL because they don't listen and think that search is the way to enter addresses.
Except that - even if you agree that climate is changing, which seems to be indisputably true - it's still rather humanocentric to assume that we "could have changed something".*
* First, you have to assume that global warming is driven largely by humans; considering that about every 120k years there's a sudden spike in temps and CO2 and the last one was...120k years ago, I think the burden of proof (that this one is caused by SUVs and Republicans, when none of the previous dozen were) is still on the AGW folks, depite the politically-driven IPCC reports.
Second, you have to assume that the warming isn't simply intrinsic to how we live in the 21st century, like the concomitant carcinogens that are consumed with cooked meat. Sure, if we killed off half of humanity it might reduce warming significantly, is that worth it? We could all live like hunter gatherers, but is it worth it?
