Thanks to Jeff Buske you don't have to be embarrassed while going through the full body scanners at the airport. Buske has invented radiation shielding underwear for the shy traveler. From the article: "Jeff Buske says his invention uses a powdered metal that protects people's privacy when undergoing medical or security screenings. Buske of Las Vegas, Nev.-Rocky Flats Gear says the underwear's inserts are thin and conform to the body's contours, making it difficult to hide anything beneath them. The mix of tungsten and other metals do not set off metal detectors."

Net Users In Belarus May Soon Have To Register 89

He told journalists that a new Internet bill, proposed Tuesday, would require the registration and identification of all online publications and of each Web user, including visitors to Internet cafes. As a current Verizon customer, I say the same thing. According to their map I am in a 3G full coverage area yet I have spotty or no services at all for miles around. When my contract expires in December, I'm out.

Like Canada's cross country express, the cost of maintenance is going to drive the price of tickets, unless of course our tax dollars used to build it will also be used to keep it operating. That would likely make it a very expensive way to travel also. I can usually fly from Atlanta to Chicago for under $200 return. Considering it would make a probable 6-8 hour one way trip into 2.5 I'm not likely to chose rail. Granted those are not likely begin/end points for rail but the point is that the cost of air travel vs time to travel is pretty hard to compete with.

I'll Second that. 18 years in IT and I view the cellphone as a leash of no value to me personally. Broadband at work has value, but at home it is a distraction. My company pays the bill for both but I still just have a slow speed service at home, it is adequate.
I've had broadband for years before mid 2008. The only think that amazed me was how liberating it was to be without it. Life improved, i just bought 10 acres in the country. I started to do a little farming, take more hikes, cut wood. It's all a huge stress relief from a long week at the office.
So contrary to most posts on this story.....Don't buck it til you've tried it. Put down the keyboard/mouse/plastic guitar/cellphone/remote/whatever and go outside. Heck, start spending a day or two a month pickuping all the freakin garbage us Americans love to leave all over the place and see how you feel. You will be suprised....and a little more fit.

Same argument could be made for how it truly destroys lives and families. It is all situational, what is good for one is not automatically good for everyone......even those that supposedly don't know any better.
I had it for years, therefore I know it's value to ME. I only have low speed line now and it is all I need.
