PS Vita Specs Announced 259

An anonymous reader writes "Sony has announced the hardware specs for the PS Vita and the details have confirmed most fans' hopes instead of their fears. The heart of the system is an ARM-developed Cortex A9 chip with four cores and a PowerVR SGX GPU. The screen is a 5-inch OLED capacitive touch-screen (with multi-touch) and a resolution of 960 x 544. The system will include 512MB of RAM and an additional 128MB of discrete VRAM. There will be front and rear cameras capable of 60fps at VGA resolution (640 x 480)."

The Aspire Revo 1600 does indeed work great. I didn't even have to muck around with Windows XP (not even uninstalling it). I used Wubi to install Ubuntu 9.11, added the xbmc repository, spent a few minutes on Google to find some configuration tweaks, and it displays 1080p video perfectly. Since I already have an old computer as a server, the Revo's gigabit ethernet means that I don't care about local disk space.

Can't wait for the next-gen hardware upgrade (fingers crossed for 32gb). I'll finally be able to replace my crappy phone and iPod Nano with an iPhone (just a mediocre phone, but that's fine by me).

Submission + - Touchscreen Voting Decertified in California (dotloose.com)

bbsguru writes: With the news last week that University of California researchers had found vulnerabilities in every California Certified electronic voting machine, the Cal Secretary of State (who requested the assessment) had until Friday to decide what to do about it. Late Friday, she did: most Touchscreen voting machines are Decertified in California, and may not be used in the Febuary primary elections. The last minute announcement means many counties will be stuck with millions of dollars worth of paperweights. Machines by Diebold and Sequoia are out entirely, those in Orange County that were made by Hart Intercivic are allowed provide new security measures are taken.
Yes, this will end up in court.
