How is it I can never seam to get karma but this blatant troll post can get so many up mods? Oh well but back to the point. I think that Apple will need to do something very quickly. The iPad2 better add more to the game than just front and back facing cameras or they are doomed after all of these Honeycomb tablets come out. My wife has an iPad and the one thing that I haven't seen on the Android market is quality apps like Pages and Numbers. I don't need them so I will be getting an Android one when Honeycomb tablets are available but she will probably stick with the iPad. I don't see why everyone thinks IOS is so awesome all it is a bunch of shortcuts on a desktop geared towards people who have a million icons on their computers desktop and if its not there it doesn't exist.

You can do everything using Linux for a lot cheaper but I believe what I have recommended will give you easier manageability if you are not a Linux expert. Plus it is all industry standard tech. I would recommend buying a couple of these for your storage and offsite backup (it has a lot of great features check the link) Qnap TS-559+ Turbo NAS http://www.qnap.com/pro_detail_feature.asp?p_id=163 Then get 2 decent HP DL360's with lots of RAM. (check your warranty and decide how many hours you are willing to be down waiting for a part, VMware should make this not as much of an issue though since it is clustered) 1 less powerful HP server for a backup server with Veritas for backup software and a LTO4 backup library (size depends on how much data) Get 2 gigabit switches. Install VMware ESX on both servers and cluster them. Carve out some storage from your NAS and connect via iscsi to ESX. As far as directory administration goes I would use MS Active Directory 2x virtual domain controllers. As far as a Web server goes a simple virtual LAMP server should work great. If you have money left in your budget use another Windows server license for a print and file server otherwise you can use the NAS This will give you lots of room for growth. If you need another server you can bring up a virtual server in 10 min or less from a template. As far as the desktop software goes you will need to make sure everyone has a version of Windows that can join a domain. As far as email exchange can get messy for a novice so I would recommend just using Google Apps for email. Now you can even manage Blackberry phones and Google Android phones through it. For 20 people I don't think it is worth it to host your own email.

CyanogenMod is pretty awesome and it is available for most Android phones so you don't need to wait for the carrier updates. Also if you just root the phone you can remove any application you like. My HTC magic is a bit underpowered now that there are so many phones with 1GHZ processors but it takes a beating I can't even remember how many times it has had a bad fall. The screen is perfect plastic case just is a bit scuffed up.

The author of the review didn't install the RC the wallpaper is pretty evident of that. He must have downloaded the wrong ISO. I just did a fresh install of x64 10.10 RC and I had the options to install MP3 and flash from the installer. It all worked just fine. I did have to install the nVidia drivers after I logged in hopefully they will work those into the installer by the time it hits final.

But I am guessing Sony has turned off the USB ports during boot along with some other security updates so they will need to come up with a new exploit and it has taken 5 years so far. I am sure someone can find something sooner than later but it won't be soon. I just wonder if people will get their consoles banned if Sony detects they are using the hack on a PS3.

Submission + - Oracle hired Mark Hurd (americanewsheadlines.com)

newsheadlines writes: Mark Hurd, 53, exited HP after an investigation of a sexual harassment allegation found inaccurate expense reports filed by Hurd or in his name. While the company determined that Hurd didnâât violate the harassment policy, it found that he concealed a personal relationship with his accuser, Jodie Fisher, a former actress who handled executive events. Hurd and Fisher, 50, settled her complaint out of court.

Submission + - Release process of OpenERP version 6 (openerp.com)

Ngh writes: In case the news hasn't spread out there by now, OpenERP is preparing to release a new version, version 6. But before we dive into the release and migration process of the new version 6, I want to refresh your memory about the services that OpenERP offers. They are split in a couple of categories. Partnership, Support and Maintenance, which means bug fixing and migration, and OpenERP Online SaaS. Here http://bit.ly/amIUxj you can fin more info.

But let's go back to our subject. Currently, the OpenERP team is at the stage of verifying and testing each function and button of the new version before it will be release in September as a release candidate. The exact date is not set yet, but for sure it will happen soon. The major difference is that OpenERP doesn't want to present itself as a ERP software, but as a suite of business applications. Meaning that if a company just wants to start with CRM for example and later on continue with more applications he has the freedom and possibility to do so. You can find more documentation here: http://bit.ly/bImJPY.

The release will be done in two steps. The first to be released are the server with most of the addons, which as we speak are individually checked by our developers. The second step of the release, date is not known yet, will have to do with the localizations per country and the web interface. After the this second step is finalized, the migration process can be initiated. OpenERP is among the few companies that offer migration services at a fixed price, this service is part of the Maintenance offer. A migration service has been designed in order to exclude hidden costs, which ensure the migration from one official version to a future one. OpenERP has a dedicated migration team who will proceed with the following actions: migrate the data, run quality control on the migrated data, then provide an access to an online version of the software to help the customers view the result and finally set up a migration platform to repeat the process.

The migration process is done in two steps. The initial step is that the customer's database is uploaded to OpenERP's servers, followed by the migration and a number of tests to make sure that it's working on the new version. After the primary migration is done and if everything is in order, the migrated database is available online for the partners. If the partner is satisfied with his online test, the OpenERP team sets up an automated migration server tailored to the customer's data. Once the customer has validated the database on the online version, he can start the actual migration process. This process should not take more than a couple of hours.

During the entire migration process, the customer is provided with technical support. To ensure such a service, the maintenance contract covers only certified modules. In case the database includes non-quality certified modules, the migration is performed only on the official modules. which means that the validation server will include only those. Moreover, if the customer doesn't want to send his data to OpenERP, they can receive a script to anonymize all the sensitive data, before they send it to be migrated. Of course, at the end of the process, a script is provided to reverse to the actual data.

So, until the we go live with our latest release, keep on checking our website for news.
