I know it's not a "standard" (yet?) but asm.js is one of the best things that happened to web browsers. It already works well in Firefox, Chrome and Safari, yet performance in IE is much worse than in the other platforms. Given all platforms support WebGL at this point, we are pretty much only waiting for IE to adopt proper support for asm.js.

Typical american short-sightedness. You believe that if there were no more foreigners, companies would hire Americans and pay them more because there would be less competition. You are completely wrong because in reality:

1) Large sized American companies open offices overseas and hire foreigners there, which are cheaper than H1-B workers. They also hide their headcount info very well by many different methods. Travel a bit around the world and see the size of IBM, Oracle, Ford, etc offices there.
2) Medium sized American companies hire small sized foreign companies, which are most of the time incorporated in the US too (In Delaware of course), because they are cheaper than small sized American companies.

So, what you believe is the solution to your problem is actually just fighting for breadcrums while someone else already came and took your cake and ate it. The truth if you have trouble getting a job, you are either underqualified, irrelevant or unaffordable, so pardon my single tear for you.

I had this argument plenty of times, as I visit USA often.
The fundamental problem is that Americans think they are the best at way they do, because they do something that no one (or at least they believe no one) else does outside America. Americans have a huge pride and pisses them off to no end that someone from the outside can come into the country and do a better job than them. Period. This is the root problem with H-1Bs and everything else is indirectly linked to this.

I always hear the same arguments coming from Americans regarding to H-1B or Outsourcing, like "They just bring those workers because they are cheaper, so it doesn't matter if they are worse!" or "They sent to India but those guys are terrible at doing their job!".

To understand why you already lost, you have to accept the fact that other people is as good as you or better outside America. I'm not talking about bringing Mexicans to do construction work, I'm taking about scientists, engineers, etc. There is PLENTY of birllant people outside, and guess who do they work for? Their local companies and governments? Some might, but they will work for the highest bidder and that includes American companies and American government (through companies). Most of that people is in countries where the standards of living are cheaper or much cheaper, and with an entry level American salary they are rich, have their whole family and they don't care about H-1Bs.

That is the people responsible of less jobs for the Americans, and you have no idea how many are there, probably more than americans themselves. Remember that I mentioned at the beginning of the post that I travel often to the USA? Guess why. America makes it very easy for foreigners to open an American company.

So, complaining that H-1Bs are responsible for the loss of jobs is like blaming a cold for the death of a patient with HIV.
In fact, if you were not short-sighted, you might even see the positive side of having foreigners come and work in american soil. One foreigner will take away at much one job, but one foreigner can also create many jobs, and they don't need to be Elon Musk or Satya Nadella.

But no blaming your problems on those inferior immigrants. Right. I can tell you that there is plenty of jobs and plenty of people willing to invest in endless amount of opportunities in America, Been in many countries and no other country compares to America in this regard, your country is the best.
Also met and have known of more foreigners living outside America taking these opportunities than there are individuals under H-1B.

So, if you are worried about your job or unemployment, it definitely is because you either are not qualified, relevant , or affordable enough. That's the hard truth. I'm sorry but that argument is past it's due date. Gnome 3 has been out for years and the hate didn't stop.
In comparison, It did in great measure for Ubuntu+Unity, which has now much wider acceptance than when it was released.
Gnome 3 was simply not able to revert the hate and is heading directly to irrelevance.

Being honest, they only seem to be developing Gnome 3 for themselves and the few loyal users that remain with them. They are not interested in the rest of the community using Gnome anymore, they sent that message clearly several times, and we the past users understood. Yet, they ask for money with the excuse that some of the components are being used by other environments and/or applications.

I don't personally mind at this point if gnome dies, they should have seen what happened to KDE 4 and take note. They should have see what happened with Windows 8 and read the writing on the wall. Even Microsoft has changed course by now while Gnome is still heading to irrelevance.

If I were in their shoes, I'd simply change course, post a public apology, announce Gnome 4 and bring back everything that users are missing. That should give them enough support to stay alive. I'm sure there is still time for them. But as I said before, I don't think they even care so let them die.

Once large F2P publishers, advertisers and developers such as Gree, 6waves, Tapjoy, Zynga, King, etc. were all but gone. I'm not saying there aren't companies still milking the model, but they are more into niches and whales in a shrinking market. Investment for these kind of games is disappearing rapidly.

Homeopathy is not just the "fake medicine", as most articles you read on the internet work. There is a whole theatrical performance. It works like this:

1) The "doctor" asks for a few questions about your problems, your dreams, your social life, family, etc.
2) He has a book where each of the things you mention (or the closest one) have an homeopathic ingredient listed
3) He correlates and finds an ingredient that appears the most in the issues that you mentioned. He will show it to you.
4) He will ask you to buy a medicine with that ingredient.
5) However, before leaving, he will warn you that it's possible that he might have given you something that is too strong, and will explain you that you have to dilute it a little (or do something like that, I don't remember) to mitigate the effects of an overdose.

So, the reason why it works as a placebo is because it's designed to be convincing, not because you are drinking water.

And is a scam at the same time. I've met homeopaths who were certain that It didn't really work, but have seen a great deal of patients recover from terrible illnesses only because it helped them not give up, or worked very efficiently as a placebo. Where I live, to work as homeopath, you need am university degree in medicine so It's not really that the practitioners don't know what they are doing, and will often send patients to a real doctor when they see imminent danger or can't see results.

Thanks for the preaching, but I don't know what an "experienced C++ programmer" is. There are several different ways people programs C++, including different styles and different purposes.

Clean code is useless when it doesn't perform as expected, and performant code is useless when it's more difficult to write. C++ is meant to mix both things, so by definition it will never be entirely clean or performant. It's a language that strikes the right balance for this specific purpose.

In other words, the reason for the lack of a virtual destructor is performance. This way, the class will not need for a vtable and vpointer, and will be destructed inline. Containment will make it more difficult to write and debug, you would need to replicate operators such [], mehods such as size, etc.

So, I hope I could make my point of why the current choice is the right choice in that context.

None of those are nearly as complex or featured as Godot. Also, they were designed for hardware architectures not relevant any more today.
Godot tries to avoid the same mistake by abstracting the graphics part as higher level, so changes in hardware trends don't affect the rest of the engine as much.
