Best Man Rigs Newlyweds' Bed To Tweet During Sex 272

When an UK man was asked to be the best man at a friend's wedding he agreed that he would not pull any pranks before or during the ceremony. Now the groom wishes he had extended the agreement to after the blessed occasion as well. The best man snuck into the newlyweds' house while they were away on their honeymoon and placed a pressure-sensitive device under their mattress. The device now automatically tweets when the couple have sex. The updates include the length of activity and how vigorous the act was on a scale of 1-10.

We use these: http://www.wiebetech.com/products/cases.php

It's like having a proper hard-case for each disk, and although it won't protect them from a fall it makes it easy to line them all up on a bookshelf or in a rack/drawer system and pull them out when needed.

We also read each drive at least once every 6 months to ensure the drive can re-new any weak magnetic sectors/blocks.

I've been reading slashdot for so very long now, it's almost like an addiction, but i think it's finally time i erased my bookmark.

I have to admit though i'm pleased that, at the current time, the kneejerk reaction so typical of the slashdot community hasn't fired yet.

It's not 1998 anymore. Microsoft software isn't perfect, but neither is anything else created by human hands.

Bye, community. It's been.. well, i'm not sure how to properly describe it.

IE7 Blocking Google Image Search? 253

An anonymous reader writes, "I just tried a Google Image Search in IE7 for the first time. Whenever I click on an image, my browser tells me in big bold letters, "This is a reported phishing website." Try it yourself: make sure automatic phishing detection is turned on and do an (adorable) image search; click on one of the result thumbnails. MSN Live Image Search has no such issues. Insert Microsoft evil conspiracy theory here." I get this behavior under IE7, Win XP Pro, SP2, Parallels, Mac OS X.

Yahoo Messenger Blocking youtube.com URLs? 231

wesleyye writes, "This morning I attempted to copy and paste a youtube.com URL to two of my friends via Yahoo IM. But they kept complaining they did not see anything. Actually they saw all the text message lines except the line with the youtube URL. Is YIM blocking the competitor out?" We verified in this office that a fully formed youtube.com URL could not be passed on YIM; changing the URL to read youtubex.com caused it to go through. Any other URL we tried worked. Update 10/10/2006 20:58 GMT by SM: Additional testing shows that there is something else going on for well formatted URLs. Even search results from search.yahoo.com had trouble when included with other text on the same line. Still awaiting comment from Yahoo!.

Comment About +R/+RW (Score 2, Interesting) 254

Wrong. DVD+R was released after DVD+RW. DVD+RW works best as filesystem accessible rewriteable media. The format was updated to include write-once media in order to compete with DVD-R. (You'll notice that even the write-once DVD+R discs bear the stylized RW logo.)

Check here for some more info on the entire DVD spectrum.

A few other quick notes:
1. The +RW alliance claims 100% compatibility with the DVD-Video standard. I've had no trouble using +R discs on very old DVD drives and DVD-Rom drives. Although, as has been said above, there seems to be a huge amount of variation across different drives and players.

2. +R/+RW media does not have the rediculous finalization (lead out) routine that's required with -R/-RW routines.

3. One more thing, formatting times for -RW are rediculous, whereas +RW media can format on the fly.

Although my drive is multiformat, the +RW camp has my vote through experience.
