Comment Let's start with Randi! (Score 1) 553

She advocates no anonymity on the Internet? How about starting by posting online all YOUR contact info like phone number, home address, etc, Randi? I'm sure guys somewhere would be more than GLAD to show you why no anonymity on the Internet might be a problem... Some would say she's a dumb broad, but that's obviously NOT the case. She's just parroting her brother's stupid money-grubbing ideas.

The companies I've worked for spent as little as possible on I.T. including personnel. They don't CARE about the future; they want money NOW, and hiring more people costs money. As for digging in youjr heels and refusing; with all the unemployment, they can fire you, and hire a replacement in less than a day, and go on with "business" as usual. Be glad if you've got ANY vacation; the trend now is to make I.T. personnel "independant contractors" and give them NO benefits at all, and NO vacation.

I was once "fired" because I was the "old hand" in a department that had a sudden influx of developers over ten years junior to me. Yes, I sued and won based on age discrimination. From my standpoint, managers hire younger workers because they'll work longer hours for less pay, and are less likely to have the "encumbrace" of families to keep them from working OT, or that call them away because someone's home sick, or has to be run to an appointment. Also, the boss usually prefers people his own age who'll go drinking at Bennigans every night with him.
