Comment Conversation view is a mixed blessing (Score 1) 272

There are times I wish Gmail had never implemented conversation view. The presentation of email threads in a flat chronological progression encourages users to reply the last message in the thread regardless of which message(s) they are actually responding to.

Because of this, it's not uncommon to see threads with replies four or more levels deep when most of the participants are using Gmail. The traditional use of a tree view to track the flow of conversations becomes useless in such cases. Add in Gmail's (unalterable) behavior of placing quotes at the end of replies and you have the recipe for a very frustrating experience when participating in long discussions.

STS-129 Ascent Video Highlights 117

An anonymous reader sends in this link to a video of 12-1/2 minutes of Space Shuttle pr0n. The people at the Johnson Space Center put together this video of the ascent of STS-129 using multiple imagery assets — ground, air, booster, and the shuttle itself. The booster's-eye view of splashdown and immersion is something you don't see every day. As a bonus, another anonymous reader shared a beautiful photo of the shuttle flying over rugged terrain after it separated from the ISS last week.

If you just do a Google search without specifying what distro you are using the first hits you get will often be for the original documentation from the devs. Upstream documentation necessarily assumes the software is being built from source when no official binaries are distributed (i.e. frequently).

If you can't easily find documentation tailored to your particular system it's the distro's fault.
