I think most people hold their noses and vote for the lesser of two evils. I know that's the feeling of most of the people I talk to.

Yes they do. And it is that kind of thinking that puts them where they are. The 'prison' is self made, and they feel more comfortable there while moaning about the cruel world.

They don't need a 'viable' candidate. With control of congress they can get what they want. And I don't know why people argue about this as if democrats and republicans really oppose each other. That would be like a wrestler beating on his tag team partner. This whole theater is the same tired old good cop/bad cop routine. What's sad is that people still fall for it, right here on Slashdot.

13% of those polled approves of congress. Over 96% percent of them were reelected. Over 98% of the voters vote for the institutional party, which is the republican/democrats. That number has been stable for a very long time. We have fewer independents in congress than ever. There is no indication that will change any time soon, despite all the angst being posted here. There is very little reason to believe mass media polls.

I guess I don't know what you mean by 'viable'.

'Viable' is fungible. Take away all the crazy people and the republicans would get about 5% of the vote. Take away the idiots who believe anything they are told, well, that would leave less than a million people who vote. Too bad the non voters don't talk to each other, organize and pick somebody. No more democrats and republicans. At least the complaints I hear would sound a little different. But they too, have been convinced they are helpless, not by the 'man', but by their friends and neighbors. That's what's funny about all this shit. We (that includes you!) do all the dirty work, supporting and voting for used car salesmen, and then deny our part with crap like the *individual is not the group*. That has to be one of the worst cop outs there is. It's very typical of people who don't want to consider the consequences of what they do, by separating themselves from events as best they can.

What you see from Jeb, Clinton, Obama, Reagan is no different from any other politician since long before you were born. Only your stated perceptions have changed, and not not by a really noticeable amount. You only seem to jump on whatever bandwagon that appeals to your childhood fantasies of a storybook land that never existed.

Reading your other post:

'Clinton Cash' might just be the convenient excuse she will need to drop out and start cozying up to Kissinger before he croaks (but not before engorging the party coffers). There she will find real wealth/power for many presidents to come, and without the papers breathing down her neck.

One thing is certain, in terms of business Hillary cannot be beat. Nobody comes close. You will always make money with Hillary.

Slashdot has just degenerated into cyclic poo flinging.

The only noticeable change over the years has been the spam and more shills. The front page is just plain old aggregation and marketing. The journal section is about 400:1 spam to legitimate. That's the nature of 'big'.

Oh please! You pontificating is nauseating. You can buy me the copy of Windows 7 if you want to obligate me to use it, and make sure it's the Ultimate edition! And the hardware to run it. Let's see... Intel board is fine, with dual zeon processors, at least 32 GB of RAM, 2TB enterprise quality SSD, 4K video with two 40in monitors, with wide gamut, ASIO/MIDI box, I'll send the rest of the list later. Thanks in advance!
