Comment MMR is nt used in Japan (Score -1) 668

Due to the version that was used there , being to strong and causing problems, so they went back to seperate Jabs.

All this fuss could be avoided by offering those who want it separate jabs, however they governments refuse to do thisa , as the companies that have bought thewm off have invested in MMR and have profits relying on this. Whats funny is that you can get private jabs no problem.

The fact is that the trust in MMR has been broken and rather than just accepting that and offering both , just as long as the kids are vacinatted they would rather have them die , than conceed that they have lost the PR battle.

Comment Disaster that was predicted years ago... (Score -1) 127

As someone who worked on the program from nearly its beginning I can tell you, people coould see this road crash coming for years. They tried to do too much in on go. Of course you can blame the Labour party and the suppliers for that. What with the end of Boom and Bust its always easy to pish other peoples money i.e the taxpayers up the wall!

And the amount of ex IT consultants working for the government means that that this kind of debacle happened time and time again , just the same as defence.

As for the contract costing as much to cancel as to complete thats the same trick Gordon Brown used to make sure the new brtiish carriers were built in scotland. Bent as a nine bob note!

Comment Wakefeld NEVER SAID THERE WAS A LINK! (Score -1) 832

OH for fucks sake, I have folled with story every sine wakefield published his paper.

ALL HE EVER SAID "Is there might be a link and it needs investigation"

IT WAS THE GUARDIAN NEWSPAPER! which said that there was a deffinate link!!!

The reason take up of MMR went so low in the UK is that the authorities REFUSED TO ALLOW SINGLE JABS! for poor parents which measn no alternative to MMR

So after the government had just annouced that they had probally given your Kids BS fucking E which would eat their brains, no fuckers trusted them!

Doctor Slams Hospital's "Please" Policy 572

Administrators at England's Worthing Hospital are insisting that doctors say the magic word when writing orders for blood tests on weekends. If a doctor refuses to write "please" on the order, the test will be refused. From the article: "However, a doctor at the hospital said on condition of anonymity that he sees the policy as a money-saving measure that could prove dangerous for patients. 'I was shocked to come in on Sunday and find none of my bloods had been done from the night before because I'd not written "please,"' the doctor said. 'I had no results to guide treatment of patients. Myself and a senior nurse had to take the bloods ourselves, which added hours to our 12-hour shifts. This system puts patients' lives at risk. Doctors are wasting time doing the job of the technicians.'"

Throttle Shared Users With OS X — Is It Possible? 403

whisper_jeff writes "I work in a design studio where the production director is also the owner's son (translation = he can do no wrong). He is fond of accessing a designer's computer via filesharing and working directly on files off of the designer's computers rather than transferring the files to his computer to work on them there. In so doing, he causes the designer's computer to grind to a near-halt as the harddrive is now tasked with his open/save requests along with whatever the designer is doing. Given that there is no way he's going to change his ways (since he doesn't see anything wrong with it...), I was wondering if there was a way to throttle a user's shared access to a computer (Mac OSX 10.5.8) so that his remote working would have minimal impact on our work. Google searches have revealed nothing helpful (maybe I should Bing it... :) so I was hoping someone with more technical expertise on Slashdot could offer a suggestion."

An Early Look At Halo: Reach 107

KatanAlpha writes "Based on all the information coming out about Halo: Reach, it seems that Bungie's basic philosophy has been: 'The sequels to the first Halo sucked. Let's fix that.' We've already seen a little bit of this with Halo: ODST, wherein Bungie returned to some of the core elements of Halo gameplay and ditched many of the changes introduced in Halo 2 and 3. Reach seems to continue this idea while trying to invigorate the franchise by introducing greatly improved graphics and additional gameplay mechanics."
It's funny. Laugh.

Anti Terror Honor System 74

Fortunately for us, the FAA has imposed the honor system as our next best defense against terrorism. Hopefully this will allow them to increase the volume of non-bladder liquid I'm allowed to take on planes.

Game Development In a Post-Agile World 149

An anonymous reader writes "Many games developers have been pursuing agile development, and we are now beginning to witness the debris and chaos it has caused. While there have been some successes, there have also been many casualties. As the industry at large is moving away from the phantasmagoria of Agile, Gwaredd Mountain, Technical Director at Climax Studios, looks at Post-Agile and what this might mean for the games industry."
