In the US, Left/Right is 'more government' vs 'less government'.

Mostly. But there are big exceptions. If you query Americans that self-identify as "liberal" or "conservative", and then query them on their views, the issue that they are most likely to be in disagreement on is abortion. On this issue, it is the liberal that favors less government involvement.

Yeah, let's not forget the laugher that Obama sent in 2012, which the Democrat-controlled Senate rejected 99-0.

Yes, the GP may have been wrong about not actually submitting a budget in six years. In actuality, submitting budgets that can't even get a single vote from your own party is basically the same thing as not submitting one.

If the 'neuron' of machine learning is so very different from a biological neuron, why are people insisting on calling it a 'neuron'.

You could say the same about the 'wing' of an airplane and a biological wing. The wing of a hummingbird or mosquito is vastly more complicated and capable than the wing of a 747. It provides thrust as well as lift, can do a vertical takeoff without a runway, and can go instantly from forward flight to hovering. On the other hand, a hummingbird can't go from SFO to Narita in 8 hours.

A surprisingly large number of liberal causes depend on the principle of equal treatment.

Liberals are for equal outcomes, not equal opportunities.

Conservatives are for equal treatment. For instance, a law against sleeping on the sidewalk should be enforced equally on both millionaires and homeless vagrants.

This could have happened to this person anywhere from any service.

Nope, it wouldn't have happened if this person used a service that ACTUALLY conducts background checks instead of promising them and not conducting them. This guy was a serial rapist and their "background check" did fuck all. So no...this wouldn't have happened to a service that did their job.

The only solution so far as I can see is to ban all women from using any service without a trusted male chaperone.

The solution is to conduct actual background checks. As the PROMISE they will.
