Sounds ads are the main reason I stopped using Chrome. I don't mind the advertisements themselves but I cannot tolerate sound based ads. Apparently the developer version of Chrome has a working flashblock but 4.0.223.16 doesn't.

In addition there has to be a solution between having to choose noscript (which makes the internet just plain annoying to use) and having a browser that is happy to do anything any website requests of it (e.g. flash cookies).

Ron Paul may be a homophobic, racist, religious, evolution denying nutbag, but at least he isn't a globalist, corporatist, wiretapping immunity wishwashing, patriot-act handwaving, trillion dollar handouts for everyone nutbag. While it is nice to have a president whose morals and ideology matches your own, at this point I would be supremely happy to just have someone who isn't a scumbag willing sell out our rights or future for the highest dollar. Or perhaps it is me who is crazy and just doesn't see the big picture of how we can continue to spend money we do not have on a recession caused by us spending money we do not have.

I like windows mobile 6.5, it is actually stable and fast IMO. What I despise is the UI, they actually took a step backwards compared to 6.0. However, after killing palm, like with IE they went stagnant, and now have to deal with a dead OS overshadowed by nearly anything else. If they would have "windows 7ened" their mobile OS in time for the win7 launch their mobile OS future might not be so dim. What I like about win mobile is the wide and open (compared to apple) variety of aps, I can install whatever browser or media player I want.

Death or speed metal in anything other than FLAC or 256+kbps MP3s is unlistenable (more so than usual). The hihat hits become a wash and the cymbals sound like shit. 128kbps is fine for classical or pop.

When I'm in my car I listen to mp3s with "mp3 boost" compression and normalization, as I don't like adjusting the volume (try listening to Epitaph by King Crimson in the car, there is too much dynamic range). When I'm sitting in front of my computer I listen to mp3s or FLAC hooked up to an e-mu 0404 and alesis mk2 monitors. So all together my sound system costs ~$500, I have a good signal path, good digital converters and have no need for "audiophile gear". And yes I've done ABA sound comparisons and I can tell the difference, but then again I can hear CRT monitors and the "mosquito noise" sounds.

I want to get a record player soon, not because it has magical properties over digital, but because records are often mastered for their audience and not compressed to unbearable levels like current CDs.
