This story makes two primary points:
1. The 5c is selling poorly.
2. The 5c will cannibalize 5s sales.
Anybody see a problem here?
I dwell in cubicle-land, and at the end of last year I raised half of my work surface, including my keyboard/monitor/mouse, to standing height. Within my small work group we have a variety of approaches, with almost everybody at least partly at standing height. One has a tall chair; another has dual monitors with one at each level.
Most of us are pretty happy standing most of the time, and agree that part time sitting is an important component. I think I may eventually go with a second monitor, since I don't do all that much work that doesn't involve my computer. Some days I don't sit at all.
Actually, no. Ballmer wasn't a founder. He was hired about five years after Gates & Allen started MS.
with a moon-rock stylus.
Just in case you're not joking -- there is no dark side of the moon. At least, no permanent one -- of course, one side is dark at any moment, but it's constantly changing. The moon only presents one side to us earthlings, but all sides to the sun.
if the wealth gap keeps growing like it is
In the US that gap has been closing for a few years, and by one measure is back to the level it was around 15 years ago.
What I don't understand is why Hastings believes that the major studios will allow Netflix to operate the online distribution at the price levels consumers demand.
Might not the recent price increase be an indication that Hastings knows full well that the studios are determined to get more money out of streaming? Megan McArdle recently wrote an interesting piece about this very topic. Faced with choosing among only bad alternatives, it's no surprise that Netflix picked a bad one.
Wasn't that Mutt Lange's count-in on a Def Leppard song?

No, but they weigh the same as a duck.
The 135TB figure is what it would be if you used RAID 1
Actually, RAID 1 (mirroring) would cut the usable space in half; RAID 0 (striping) would keep it at 135TB.
"write off" -- I do not think this means what you think it means. It's still an expense, which may or may not be partially offset by a reduction in tax. Partially, unless you're in the mythical 100% tax bracket.
I'd have gone with "Do addicts dream of meth-addled sheep?"
An authority is a person who can tell you more about something than you really care to know.
