Journal: Ha, You're A Horrible Person!

What is up with the term Homophobia? It's an alarmist umbrella term for anyone who disapproves of homosexuals for any reason, while in every other use, the suffix "phobia" only describes an irrational fear. From Wikipedia:

Phobia: "an intense and persistent fear of certain situations, activities, things, animals, or people"
Homophobia: "a range of negative attitudes and feelings towards homosexuality and people identified or perceived as being homosexual. Definitions[1][2][3] of the term refer variably to antipathy, contempt, prejudice, aversion, and (irrational) fear"

I disapprove of homosexuality, but I don't have an irrational fear of it. So I would probably be labeled homophobic.
