That article is an accurate representation of the entire site. It's all about over-the-top write ups of over-the-top badassery. It's tongue-in-cheek but fun as hell to read some of them. Read enough of them and you will see the author bases his context around who the badass of the week is, in this case going the full blown Nottingham/Robin Hood route leaves the cops as bad guys so getting blown to bits with machine guns by your rocket launcher loving sidekick doesn't count as hurting an innocent.

I agree with the point he is trying to make but you are spot on. It's obvious why he choose the comparison he did, to get the most sensationalism out of the least amount of detail possible. Even as a summary it is poorly done as anyone with a brain is going to see some huge gaping holes in that proposal. In his case he went with the throw his arms up in the air and shout "LOOK!! 140k are replaced by 13 people, the middle class is doomed by the companies that rely on it most so they will fail too!". While his point could very well be right, the approach he took ends up sounding like a Chicken Little "The sky is falling!" argument which leads to most people paying as much attention to it as the local crazy guy telling you the world is ending everyday for 5 years as you walk past him on the way to work.

I have a feeling that one day in the distant future people will read our current understanding of cancer as laid out in the summary and shake their heads that our understanding was ever so limited the same way we do when reading how bleeding patients out was the cure for just about everything in ancient times.

Lucky for you, you get it! Google does the same thing, those ads you see aren't a coincidence. The last time I saw an ad on GMail (before I used ad-block), every time the girlfriend talked about marriage in emails all the damn ads were engagement rings and wedding supplies. That wasn't a lucky guess on Google's behalf.

There are thousands upon thousands of people looking at open source code. One of them somewhere along the line is going to notice. That should be pretty obvious. I would like to think this would be a tipping point to more Open Source based usage but we all know that most people don't have a clue what all the surveillance talk even means. All they hear is "They are listening to my phone calls" and that's where it ends.

I'm guessing in a real world situation the creator of the password would know exactly what it image refers too. As for not being able to recognize any features in the linked examples, while I could never guess them (and that's the point pretty much) I can definitely see how the caption and image relate to each other after reading it.

We all know what happens to whistle-blowers that blow within....they are quieted, discredited, fired and smeared before they have a chance to tell any that would actually do anything about it. Had he done that business would be continuing as normal and of course that's what they prefer.

How do so many "smart" people continually come up with the dumbest testing criteria and questions. It boggles the mind...there are real consequences caused by inadequately designed tests especially at the developmental level this type of testing is aimed toward.
