CDOT did a call in of a suspicious object a few weeks ago in Colorado Springs. The suspicious object? Actually, you're a bit misinformed about USAJobs.gov. While it is true that veterans with compensable disability have preference, they must still be qualified for the job. A lack of security clearance isn't a problem unless you are unable to get one due to past history, the government will happily do a background check and if eligible you'll get a clearance. Yes, there are a lot of people applying, but again, if you're the best qualified, you'll get the job, and if the Government is having trouble finding cyberwarriors, none of what you mentioned is an issue, and certainly not worthy of the "interesting" mod your post earned.

I'm not sure how you ended up with insightful mods. Once Microsoft, Apple, name a Linux Distro, or whatever company releases a new OS, your old hardware is pretty much obsolete. You may manage to hold off for two OS upgrades, but your experience will suffer due to the hardware being too slow for the new OS. With Linux you can hold this off by dropping eye candy, or switching away from Gnome or KDE to a lightweight WM, but unless you like those lightweight WMs, your computing experience suffers.
