Comment Those ideas are crap (Score 1, Insightful) 154

There is not one single idea in that list that could have a significant global impact.

First of all, all the idea submitters are people that have internet access. Letâ(TM)s not forget that ONLY 24.7% of the WORLD has internet access. http://www.internetworldstats.com/stats.htm

This means that the people that really need help isn't heard on this 10^100 Project (75.3%)

So I wonâ(TM)t vote for this. or maybe I was expecting something else.

Like

1. Develop an accessible not fossil fuel dependant vehicle
2. Create an organization for exchange guns for [insert exchange here]
3. Offer developing countries support, with technology and money to invest in agriculture related projects
4. Create a free technology exchange portal, where countries can access for free
5. Destroy de Guantanamo Base

i don't know but nothing on that list, what do you think?, what coulld really change this world for the better?

I mean. If that is what 150000 people submitted to make this world better, we are DOOMED..

The Orange Goo That Could Save Your Laptop 285

Barence writes "A British company has patented what can only be described as an orange goo that could save your laptop or iPod after a nasty fall. The amazing material is soft and malleable like putty, but the substance becomes solid instantly after impact. You can punch your fist into a ball of the material sitting on a desk and not feel a thing, according to the staff at PC Pro who have been testing the material, called 3do. It's being used by the military, the US downhill ski team, and motorcycle clothing manufacturers to provide impact protection in the event of a crash. However, it's also appearing in protective cases for laptops and MP3 players."

Well, I live in Bolivia and I can say that the salt flats are beautiful, but Evo Morales sucks, he is destroying this country, he have dedicated himself to destroy our region, destroyed the economy and made terrible mistakes whit several foreign governments, including the United States. Recently the government has killed supposed terrorist of Hungary nationality. There are proves that this supposed terrorist were tourist on our country and some of them where working here in IT jobs. Can u imagine a geek doing terrorist activities?
I support the idea of extracting this minerals and increasing the quality of life of the citizens of this forgotten land. It will generate a lot of jobs, that we are lacking right now, there are more benefits that drawbacks.

I remember the first time I installed Linux on my pc a 486 33mhz, 200 Mb HD. the first distribution i installed was Corel Linux http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corel_Linux [wikipedia.org]
it came whit a magazine I have bought, I used it to edit some pictures in corel picture.
Actually I remember I was crying because I erased all my data on the HD.
But I didn't started using Linux since... mmm oh yes, that was when ADSL got to my city. I remember it was dead hard to set up the friking Modem. That was the reason I didn't used Linux early.

on the other side. come on slashdot developers, is it so damn hard to set up a easy way to imput the friking apostrophe â(TM) ,i mean, how hard can it be rigth?
