Comment WebOS versus Android Round 2, Fight! (Score 4, Insightful) 148

They're going to be stuck in the same position that Palm was only 3 years further down the line in technology. QNX is pretty slick but they're going to have to encourage (bribe) developers and keep pushing the way Microsoft has with Windows Phone if they want to have a prayer... Every day they wait on hardware is a slightly smaller chance of any kind of success.

it's not religion or faith that's an issue. It's a totally corrupt regime who's been in power quite a while and is trying to implement sharia law for their own personal benefit. if this law goes into effect, it will cause the entire countries IT infrastructure to start slowly imploding. Who wants to paint a gigantic red bullseye on their back?

Issues like this are the reason you need to fully flesh out costs before flipping the switch on a large organization like this. almost every teacher I know has a smartphone of some kind and a lot of them are starting to get tablets. Why offer the service when you cannot fully offer it?

I own an Evo View 4G (basically a sprint version of the HTC Flyer) and it is amazing for notes and drawing. it feels solid in your hand and has very little creak (if any) it connects to Evernote natively in its note taking app and works well. the 7" tablet is big enough to be useful without being so large as to get in the way on small lecture hall desks and an otterbox defender case is coming out that will allow you to use it as an easel.

I'm having a hard time understanding how it's a bad thing. The proposal should get voter approval in the municipality to be serviced. It shouldn't be run as a government agency, but more of a service to customers. The stipulation of the program not being able to offer services below cost doesn't even seem to be a bad idea. Where is the story here?

has more to do with throwing up enough roadblocks to give big business ISPs enough time to say 'oh, look, they're going to create an ISP. let's go roll it out now so that we can hold onto our monopoly'
