I've seen this in Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 on PC"s with integrated Intel graphics. Simply refresh the screen and the deleted file is no longer listed. I suspect that no one in power at Microsoft thinks that this is odd, doesn't care, or simply didn't consider coding for an automatic screen refresh every time a file is deleted..

Comment 450 MB/sec over USB 3.0 is likely untrue (Score 1) 105

I do not believe the claim of 450 MB/sec. data transfer rates on USB 3.0 with data going in both directions. Typically, I see USB 3.0 data transfer rates with SSD's to peak at 180 MB/sec. using HD Tune. I have different USB 3.0 docks and sell various USB 3.0 enclosures and hard drives. I'd believe Samsung's figures if they were using a SATAIII port. No way are they getting an honest 450 MB/sec.on a USB 3.0 port.unless it's non-standard or actually a USB 3.1 port.

Comment Freedom Pop .. no thanks (Score 2) 73

Personal anecdote here. I signed up for Freedom Pop last year. After three weeks the phone arrived. After using it for five weeks I gave up. Each and every call had drop outs, severe distortion, or a disconnect. Freedom Pop ignored all my email and phone calls about the poor service. I was asked to call different numbers that did not resolve their poor VOIP implementation. The issue is Freedom Pop has a great idea but horrible implementation. I use the phone as a Square register now. Every now and then I check the call quality. It's still horrible over both WiFi and Sprints 4G data network. I advise others to skip Freedom Pop if you plan to use the phone with the intention of having conversations that are intelligible by both parties.

When you pull the tablet from the keyboard the OS reverts to the touch screen UI. When the keyboard is connected, or on conventional computers, the desktop UI is presented. This is how Windows 8 should have functioned had Microsoft not blow off our early feedback and told us to "live with it". It took 3 years for Microsoft to undo the mess that Windows 8 was, with the latest preview of Windows 10. Hopefully, as more builds are released they'll continue to make Windows 10 more user friendly, something that we actually want to use...

I'm too old to believe in magic devices anymore. They just don't work. OTC nutritional supplements, vitamin infused water, and magic gadgets, are as useful as downloadable RAM or free range pasta. Chromebooks and Chrome boxes will give free OS upgrades. Chrome OS currently does most of what a typical user wants. Our local schools use it. Teachers love it as they can not only get assigned homework the can tell when it was posted on Google's cloud. The biggest hurdle for consumers, outside of no web based alternatives to some programs, is that local printing needs to be have automatically installed drivers and not just Google cloud printing, which is not simple for some people to set up..
