I suggest look at the job postings of Amazon, MS and others and see what areas they most desire. I am a CS/ECE grad and in Raleigh and almost once a month I have someone from MS or Amazon ping me about a position. I know for a fact both Amazon and MS love CS programmers, algorithms, distributed computing etc. If those or other similar buzzwords are present in your resume on linkedin or elsewhere, you will get an email soon.

I think everyone has a friend on FB who posts news items really fast. As soon as they happen. It is almost like some people feel compelled to be the first to ancounce news on Facebook. I think those few people may be responsible for most others getting their news on FB as well.

I am not completely in agreement with this study. I only read the Atlantic article, I did not read the study so maybe I missed something. From what I have observed, the younger teachers who were on tenure track in universities were always more focused on getting research grants because that is what helped them get tenure. The older ones were more likely to win best teacher awards. From my just my personal experience of 8 years in grad school I feel like it is just the enthusiasm that some younger teachers show that is infectious and makes you feel like the teacher is good. The older teachers are actually better at drilling down concepts however they were less excited about the material and somehow that transferred to the students as well. Students were more likely to feel bored in their classes. I was a TA and that was a frequent complaint about my advisor but I used to go throw his material and it was fantastic. That said there was one tenured professor who was an okay teacher but left the teacher survey on the last day of classes, on our desks, on the way out muttering "Write whatever you want, nothing can happen to me."

Wont you get charged for how much power you are sipping in? Is it free? It may be now, but it unlikely to remain that way. A more important question is how efficient is this? How much energy is given to the vehicle and how much reaches the car and what fraction of it is actually getting converted to motion?

I dont think somehow this is such a bad idea. I mean, they could have just deleted all those pages really ( I know this is a not a good enough excuse). If you use Tumblr, you know most pages are inter-linked. So it is easy to go from one to next. Did they stop that as well? Also, I had noticed that most Tumblr pages did not have any warning for adult content.

Right, but then if you keep writing code for future expansion, you are over designing. A lot of the times, it is really hard to predict what direction this project is going to take. You also end up with pieces of code that are being maintained for future really. You do bring out another interesting point. Code that looks simple to me may not look simple to others.

I have often noticed that complexity is added to code when it grows over time. Typically, a project starts off very well. We have requirements and we use the best possible design with limited future expansion capabilities and come up with simple code that works well. However, over time, things change and we come across situations that the original code cannot handle. But instead of writing from scratch, we hack it and that is how complexity and subsequently bugs get added. In my experience, the base infrastructure code for any system always looks simplistic and beautiful. The ugly part is often how it has been used over the years.

Is there any way we can say the same about cell phones? Even if they were bought under contract? As long as I am still using their service I should be able to unlock the phone!!

Exactly, I was about to say the same thing. I mean was the Robosparrow attacked because the others thought it looked weird because it had a dead look or something? Is there a full paper that explains their research. That conclusion jump left me wondering!

You don't get the point. It is about the gatekeeper's ego. If everything he described happened, then it would have made a lot more sense to make the corrections just because it is nice to be honest sometimes you know. She stole the boat because her attitude is like "if you don't do everything the way I want you to do it or if I sense even the slightest disrespect, I will F**K your things". That is what we face at airports too.

I dont remember the last time we had a dept that was so pathetic, inefficient, useless, corrupt and annoying as the Dept. of Homeland Security. Why do these people even exist? I dont feel any safer with them being around at all.
