Netflix still works. Try to login, get error, hit circle. Anytime the prompt comes up (once or twice more), repeat. Will let you to the main screen and watch movies just fine.
Exactly. My time is a lot more limited than my gaming budget. I'd rather play a well produced title like Mass Effect 2 for $60 than Angry Birds for $0.99 even though theres no way I'm getting 60x the playtime out of ME2. I have no interest in playing time-waster iOS apps when I'm at home, and I hardly ever play them on the go because I have to worry about running out of battery on my phone, and I have dedicated portable gaming devices that provide a much better experience even for short playtimes.
Wow 120 W basically just to keep the memory clock refreshing? I'd guess you might not be in the right ACPI state for sleep mode, since laptops in sleep mode can last for a week on batteries that only last 2-4 hours in use, there should be a much larger decline there.
Octave is a FOSS alternative to Matlab.
Is the one for $199 NIB? Thats the only reason I could see it selling for so much.

Oh and I happened to have mine on me, $7.99 label still attached. Cart only, though. Could see it being $25 with box and manual, but it would have to be sealed to be worth $199.
I also have the US SNES FF III (now 6) cart including box and manual & map...
You want to buy my Golden Sun GBA cart for $150? I picked it up at Gamestop for $6 a year ago.
I was gifted Civ V on steam, and it allowed for a pre-release download, which was then decrypted on release day. This wasn't the best user experience, since it still took quite a while on my q2quad 6600 and 7200rpm HDD to decrypt when I thought it would be ready immediately on release. I guess that means that even had I purhcased a physical copy, the game disc would have been encrypted too? What a PITA.
OTOH, Civ IV vanilla wouldn't run properly if you had both a cd-burner and a regular cd/dvd-rom due to DRM, and therefore required a crack for the legitimate retail purchased copy for most people I knew, so at least the steamworks thing for V works correctly. They did, as I recall, fix the drm issue eventually, but it sucked at launch.
I've heard it every which way, and I frequently fly domestic US flights for work. At some point within the past 2 years it was very common to hear that cell-phones must be off completely and no, airplane mode is not ok. I believe that was usually on US Airways. More recently, they say airplane mode is ok, but everything must still be powered off during take-off and landing. I'm usually surrounded by people with smartphones that don't bother to shut them off and just put them in airplane mode anyway. I've also been on a handful of flights that had an in-flight Wi-Fi hotspot. I've flown on United, US air, Delta, Continental, and Southwest within the past 6 months.
Indeed, I just meant in the context of the article, pretty much everyone will automatically consent to any sort of tracking because they've been trained to hit yes to everything, even when its not a 25000 word EULA, which pretty much no one has the patience to read.

You realize that MS will brick modded consoles that connect to Live, right? They don't ban them, they turn them into completely unusable trash. Sony isn't destroying anyone's hardware. They removed one well-liked software feature and they're prosecuting the dude who let the cat out of the bag on their security. That sucks, but so far as I know they're only action against modders is to ban them from PSN.
We got a Subaru here in upstate NY. The biggest problem in the winter is when freezing rain or refrozen snow ices over the door around the fuel filler cap. You have to open it using the switch near the drivers seat then walk around to the back passenger seat to discover that it didn't open because of some ice you can't even see. Thats my only complaint, which should tell you something.
Theres a a very long list of exclusive PS3 games. See this list http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_PlayStation_3_games and organize by exclusive.
I'm sure we can add a few things like the Walkman and Minidisc to Sony's contributions to society.
Indeed. I have some "regular" appliances like an electric oven and coffee machine that both have digital timers, so you can set them to turn on in the morning after going to bed. For the cost/complexity it is probably done on a single microprocessor.
And then...the 2 desktops, 2 laptops, cell phones, 4 game consoles, several portable game consoles...
An authority is a person who can tell you more about something than you really care to know.
