MikeChino writes: At first glance e-readers offer a great set of benefits over paper-bound books – they’re light, versatile, and a great alternative to lugging around a tote full of dead tree tomes on your next trip. However these new reading mediums have one glaring fault – can you imaging the frustration of running out of juice mid-sentence and halfway through Infinite Jest? LG’s new solar e-book aims to address this issue by harnessing the sun’s rays to power its display. The device features a 10 centimeter wide thin-film photovoltaic panel that can power the reader for a full day's worth of reading after 4-5 hours spent sitting in the sun.

Submission + - GNU/Linux distro requires Windows to install 5

dgun writes: "I recently put together a new PC. When I purchased the motherboard, I noticed that it came with an instant on OS, a small GNU/Linux distro known as Splashtop. I assumed that the OS was on a ROM chip on the motherboard. To my great annoyance, when I try to boot to the OS there is a message that says it is not installed. It turns out that motherboard comes with an install disk for this GNU/Linux OS that you can only run from Windows (of course) that will install the OS on the hard drive. First of all, doesn't installing it on the hard drive defeat the point of having an instant on OS? If I wanted to duel boot a small GNU/Linux OS, I'm sure there are plenty to choose from that I could try. Secondly, if distributing GPL'd software by means that completely preclude it from being used without Windows is not a violation of the GPL, should it not be?"

One the above post talking about LATEX is right. but if you don't want to learn a hole new standard. you could read this http://www.alistapart.com/articles/boom it all about printer style sheets. One cool thing about HTML that latext does not have is the auto type media extensions. you can redefine the look of you content with a specific style sheet. And while I can do all that with LATEX I have to run it through a processor first. bot that multi media marrett and if you want to get into really complex type setting issues LATEX is the way to go. if you just want to use it as a word processor I would suggest using some sort of WYSIWYG for it and have a pdf printer.

  1. users management — you can now add/edit users in Simple Invoices — no more phpmyadmin nonsense
  2. multiple taxes per line item — just adjust the number of taxes per line item in System Preferences to show the number you require
  3. UI updates — Simple Invoices is now using 970px wide layout instead of 100% width
  4. email — now allow multiple email addresses in to or bcc and can be delimited via , or ;
  5. add system pref for number of taxes per line item
