My 19 year old daughter is doing a course in Industrial Design. She has a highend macbook (retina display , all ssd), Samsung Note tablet and Fedoera 19 PC which is shared with me. Her time on device is Notebook , PC then MacBook. The tablet is mostly used the consume media and drawing, the PC for when she wants a big monitor or needs to write or print sonethind and the Mac for Adobe products.

Clearly the tablet is a useful device that serves a reasonable fraction of her needs.

Because where I live you sell to the grid at 8 cents per KWHr (which is actually higher than the wholesale price) and buy from the grid at 25 cents per KWHr. Germany is already in trouble because Solar PV has pushed prices down below zero during peak solar production. ie The intermittent nature of solar is already making the technology hit its limits even though the total agregate solar production integrated over a year in Germany is less than 5% (I think). You beat this with local storage.

While this all great Science, actually solar panels are already cheap enough in many parts of the world. Certainly they are in Australia since we have no tariffs on imported Chinese panels. What is really needed for greater market penetration is cheap storage. It would be great to have a around ~20 KWHr of storage for ~$2000 - $4000. Said storage needs to be stable over around 7000 cycles (20 years of operation) and provide of the order of 4 KW of power on demand. With this in place residential PV systems could provide over 20% of demand in many parts of the world.

But it (mostly) works...

That is a really non-intuitive processes designed to prevent users from actually doing what they want. Why can't we just drag and drop from a folder like every other GUI? (including OSX)
  I totally agree with GP. If Apple wants to improve the IOS experience they should get rid of the propriety crap and provide easy ways for people to use their devices as they want.

Actually the cost for a bulk purchase of solar panels is currently around $0.50 per peak watt. In California with its high insolation, solar power comes out at much less than half that price per KWhr hence the idea behind Solar City, Elan Musks' latest venture. He can make a killing selling electricity from his solar-powered chargers at 0.49%/KWhr to the grid and use them as a marketing gimmick to promote sales of $90K autos. Either way he's ahead. This a brilliant move.

My Nexus 4 bluetooth works perfectly for playing music and making phone calls. I haven't tried other uses of bluetooth though.

Can visio export to pdf format? If so just use pdflatex and include the pdf's directly in your doc. It will all scale nicely too.

Coz I browse with the ad-block plugin with Firefox.

Why shouldn't GNOME use gtk???? It has to use some tool graphical user interface toolkit. Just like KDE use QT.
gtk3 doesn't use any gnome libraries so your problem is that Centos doesn't ship gtk3.

To be clear....

gtk is a separate project from gnome. Lots of applications use gtk. The gtk devs decided to make a major transition from gtk2 => gtk3. The gimp devs also decided to use gtk3.

You need gtk3 to run the latest GIMP coz the GIMP devs decided to use that. The gnome devs also decided to use gtk3.

You have to use "fedup" now.

fedup-cli --network 18

Will do the job. I did that last night and it worked perfectly as far as I can tell.
