This is what scares most people, or at least me, about ideas of using big data to predict criminals or otherwise mess up people's lives.

Don't know about you but in my area they provide "Power" internet which is plenty fast, I just don't want to pay that much. Now I'm stuck with Charter which forces me to buy their 60 Mb, oh wait it is only 30 in my area but it still seems to be the same subscription) when all I really want is 15 Mb (and the price that goes with it). Sigh...

How about a setup that detects when one more drive failure will cause the raid array to fail and spins up a new unused drive to be ready for that failure?

They are way away from reaching me but the more cities they get into, the more competition the provide against the other companies. I can only hope this helps me eventually.

Seems to me if this meant anything it would more mean the various platforms should be compatible with each other, at least the commercial ones. Even that seems like a massive stretch.

Yep, I may have issues with how some of the measurements and projections are made and what the true impact is but I've never considered it a hoax. Though if it gets us switched over to renewable fuels I can't complain too much. Just like the inedibility of the sun taking out this planet and us having to move elsewhere, fossil fuels won’t last forever, or likely be all that useful on any colony off this planet. Then again I'm not more sane than the next guy, just my bent $0.02.

Yeah, my passwords to sites I'm not overly concerned about are a common single word or if I want to feel mildly more secure I toss a number in the middle of it. Just a throw away really.

On my own computers behind a firewall. I consider use of the password password about the same as having none.

In my opinion what is important is how to think logically and organize a computer program. Some support this organization better than others but I haven't found a language yet that can't be written properly with care and thought. While I prefer something object oriented like C# or Python or even *mutter*Java*mutter*, the concepts of proper programming are most important.

I was skinny when I was 115 pounds. Now I'm somewhere between 8% and 15% body fat which is fine for me. I can't bench press 350 but I'm fine with 200 and can rock climb like a monkey.
