Journal Journal: on raising kids 2

The only thing that will stop my 8 month old daughter mid-tantrum is my wife's cellphone with Sugarhill Gang's Rapper's Delight playing. Works every time.

Journal Journal: sure sign of growing up 2

In a few weeks I'll be trading in the convertible for a mini-van. My precious SAAB required yet another call to GEICO roadside assistance to continue its journey last night. They're definitely losing money on that plan. Good thing the mileage while towed doesn't show up on the mileage-o-meter thing.

Journal Journal: Missed Fortune 101 7

Has anyone read this book? Its premise is that you should never pay off your house and instead borrow as much on the house as possible since the interest is deductible, then you take the money you'd otherwise use to pay down principal and you buy life insurance for all of it. Specifically Equity Indexed Universal Life, which the author claims is foolproof and tax free.

Journal Journal: Creepiest man in America resigns in gay sex scandal 15

This is even better than when Limbaugh got busted for illegal drugs. There's nothing I enjoy more than these holier than thou jerks getting busted for things they preach against. Long Live Hypocrisy!

(CNN) -- The president of the National Association of Evangelicals resigned Thursday after denying an accusation by a male prostitute that the pastor paid him for sex over three years. The Rev. Ted Haggard said he is also temporarily stepping aside from the pulpit of his church in Colorado Springs, Colorado, pending an internal investigation by the church.

Journal Journal: So my PC crashed 6

and I had to rebuild from the factory restore, I'm now caught up again with XP home sp2, but I'm trying to decide which mediaplayer to stick with.
Instead of having real, yahoo, musicmatch, winamp, ms mediaplayer, itunes, etc ad nauseum I want one lightweight, small footprint mediaplayer. One that doesn't hog all my cpu cycles and RAM. Most of the time it'll just play mp3 files and if it could easily burn the current playlist that would be a bonus.

Any ideas?

Journal Journal: Teachers beat students in schools, and it's legal 9

Craziest thing I ever heard. What alternate reality did I end up in where school officials beat kids with wooden paddles?

"The most recent federal statistics show that during the 2002-3 school year, more than 300,000 American schoolchildren were disciplined with corporal punishment, usually one or more blows with a thick wooden paddle. Sometimes holes were cut in the paddle to make the beating more painful. Of those students, 70 percent were in five Southern states: Texas, Mississippi, Tennessee, Alabama and Arkansas."

The wife wants to setup a little webpage for my daughter's girlscout troop. What's a good web page editor for beginners? No she does not want to learn how to code the whole thing using notepad, thanks for asking though.
