Apparently, in some locales such as the German one, the OS X calculator application discards decimal digits of the input when the percent button is used (e.g. adding x percent of tax to an invoice sum). All works fine if you do the manual multiplication (e.g. instead of adding 7% you multiply by 1.17). This has spurred active discussion on German news lists (e.g. heise.de and at digg.
