I've been paying for Photoshop CC since it's been available, because I can finally get a legal copy of Photoshop (and for $10 a month). Yes, it's subscription-based, but it installs the actual software on your computer, so I don't know where you're getting the web-based thing from.

Look, I run Linux on my desktop, and have since well before distributions or version 1.0 of the kernel came out. I run quite a few servers and all of them are running Linux. My media center PC is running Linux. All my computers except one run Linux.

Does that mean I can't think ChromeOS is a cool idea, or at least interesting? Does that mean I'm not allowed to use Photoshop when I'm indulging some of my other hobbies, because it's the best tool for the job? Am I less of a nerd because I don't /only/ use FOSS?

I used GIMP for many years. Since it came out, pretty much - I remember using version 0.54 in the '90s. When I started getting more into photography I used Gimp with the UFRaw plugin. Again, I was using the thing for well over a decade at this point.

Then I had a fairly big photography project and tried a trial version of Photoshop+Bridge+Adobe Camera Raw. It was /instantly/ easier to use AND more powerful than GIMP and any raw processor on Linux. My workflow with it is incredibly smoother and faster.

Nowadays I do occasionally have to use GIMP and let me tell you, it is PAINFUL.

So yeah, now that I can get a legal copy of Photoshop for $10 a month, why on Earth wouldn't I?

I recently just stopped logging into IM because Hangouts was so... eww. I mean, it wouldn't even tell me if people were online or not.

I still rely on Google Voice, though. I really hope it doesn't end up making me log into Hangouts to use it!

The people I want to IM with are not the same people I want to call and are not the same people I want to SMS. They're different groups of people. There are people I don't want to give the ability to comtact me that easily.

As long as I can keep using google Voice without using Hangouts, I'm fine. I can't stand Hangouts, and I don't want al lmy contacts integrated into one system. I keep them separate for a reason...

My phone has "only" 32G, pretty sure I can get the music I /really/ want down to 20G but still. I like Subsonic's web interface for making playlists, too (plus it can import popular formats).

I agree with you about a lot of stuff - I want local copies of anything I can even though I am usually well within my LTE coverage zone.

I use Subsonic to stream music, though, because I don't have room on my phone for all my music, and I'd rather be able to choose what I listen to on the fly rather than have to decide before I leave.

Subsonic, however, does have a cache setting. I have mine set to 10 GB, and no track limit. So if you know you'll be offline or out of coverage, you can load up a playlist while at home on your WiFi and it'll automatically get cached. You can then use Subsonic in Offline Mode, or you can use any other music player to play the cached files. That's what I did last time I flew somewhere, and it worked perfectly. Best of both worlds, really.

Subsonic is pretty nice. It's what I, too, use to stream my music, since I definitely can't fit all of it on my phone. And yeah, it's all CDs I own and have ripped (well, 99% CDs, there are occasional single-tracks I bought).

The app is free, but they do charge for the server software.

Yeah, ME3 has a multiplayer portion which was kind of an afterthought but a lot of people (myself included) really like it.

Why do they always have to do this when I have a bout of insomnia and would really like to get online and shoot some Geth? Ugh.
