Last time I checked, Netflix had around 5% of the stuff I wanted to watch.

There must be something better then velcro ties. I use them but it's a pain running something new and having to undo each tie one by one so everything doesn't fall apart.

One more point to add. For the common person, single click to run would be endgame in 5 minutes. It is just too bizarre.

A lot of you guys are missing the point. Linux only has a chance in the long term if it gets a portion of adoption by the masses. The masses are not interested in configuration, they do go by the first thing they see, and as distasteful as it is for us all, the Apple-esque Gnome look is what they seem to be happy with. If you enjoy configuration then you have the option of wiping gnome and installing KDE on almost any distro. Everyone is happy.

If you care about your privacy that much why not just store your stuff at home and back it up at the house of someone else you trust? Much cheaper byte for byte and no risk of deletion by the evil empire.

I suspect windows 8 is more about the kinect device than they are letting on right now. Moving windows around in the air and then going down to the keyboard to do real typing would be amazing.

What I keep wondering is, when I put all my cherished memories into the cloud and over years I allow that collection to grow with no means of extracting it or migrating it in a useful way, what will stop the cloud from taking full advantage of the worth of those memories to me? I can't imagine why they wouldn't eventually tell me that I must pay them to be able to see the media from Christmas 2012 and that is that? I believe that is the real lurking danger here. Right now we are the kids in the school yard being offered a few free hits.

Running a government like a business is a double edged sword. Businesses aren't guided by what's good for their customers, they are guided by what those customers will pay for. You could say goodbye to money hungry efforts that benefit us all such as funding scientific research. The military would have to start wars so they could be productive, that sort of thing.

Meh, I work for a large IT company AND half the people I work with are ignorant of technology (basically anyone who is not an admin) . So this does not surprise me.

But then, are also notorious for under funding IT departments.

Any cloud provider should allow exporting of any content that was put there at a lower monthly rate.
