I recall a study where it was found that people who were optimistic and believed that they will overcome cancer were significantly more likely to do so than those who had given up and at most believed that the treatment might give them some more time.
Now this wasn't about placebo effect and I'm certainly not suggesting placebo as cancer treatment or giving up proper treatment if you feel positive enough that you'll "get over it anyway"
"He pointed out that the KGB had a file on Putin long before he became the glorious leader which included a personality profile. The KGB had determined that Putin had an unusually low sense of danger, the kind of guy that thinks he can get away with just about anything, and that might include launching a nuclear first strike against America." [citation needed]
Not that I doubt that could very well possible...
You're missing the point. If you decide to let a madman wipe off half the planet, he will, and nomatter how much you hate your country or try to satisfy him he's going to do it, unless you say "if you hit me I'll hit you back", then no nukes get fired, because you *ghasp* stood up for yorself and the only thing bullies understand is strength.
Bullies understand almost only strength, politicians understand strength, but you were talking about madman - need I elaborate on what they might or might not understand?
All told the whole thing is pretty sad. And before someone talks about the evil corporations, lets get something straight... look around the country in more business friendly areas. Take texas or South Dakota or either of the Carolinas... how much of this police buying are we seeing there? Not much. So California is where we're seeing this now.
Why of why would that be?
Since I've only read about this one case, please share the information if there is more of this happening.
I'm not claiming it's for everybody but in Finland I used to bike to school (and I still bike around, summers and winters, raining or shining) and having biked under all of above situations I can say that they hardly make bicycles unusable.
Finland, thank you
We already have many, you silly fox... Let's give your kind your own country,
Oh phlueez, I've had similiar tab counts for several (>=5) years now and it hasn't been a problem, though nowdays it does help to be selective about domains you allow scripts from.
fuck off and die from blunt force trauma in ass
Interesting (not). I disagree with GP on many things, most having to do with VNC as I've used (Tight)VNC for many purposes and have achieved nearly same level of usability over 256K line as I have locally (not for any kind of animated/video context like games, video, etc. but for browsing web for articles, email, coding, etc.) but I also use X forwarding for several reasons and all I can see in your post is a counter argument that isn't and never has been a thing. It's just foul mannered nothing not worth the time I wasted on replying and I'm currently ass-whipping myself for it.
what we have is a choice of kang or kodos. either way, we lose.
and no, voting 3rd party is a non-starter. don't even go there.
So you vote for something you don't believe in, something that you call losing? Or you don't vote at all (better than the former option if you ask me)?
Let me ask you, in the fictional situation that you would actually find yourself in the imaginary scene in Simpsons, would you vote for Kang or would you vote for Kodos? Coz voting for 3rd party is absolutely a non-starter.
I'll leave it for others to figure out why, out of these four choices (of which the first two seem to be the same), voting for 3rd party is indeed the only sane option here (with possibility of choosing not to vote being less insane than voting for ass-poundings for everyone).
Are you talking about Russia or USSR?
Kleeneness is next to Godelness.
