Comment It's the games that need to be cheaper! (Score 1) 232

I bought a PS3 for many of the reasons stated above, BlueRay+Media center capabilities and free online gaming being the biggest one. The price is worth it. It's just as Sony has said, it's not just a gaming machine.

What I am worried about is the price of games. Here in Sweden we pay 699-599 (62,25-55â) for a new game, if you are lucky some of the bigger electric chains have it for 499 (45,85â) (including sales tax).
That's too much. Luckily the PS3 is REGION FREE when it comes to games (Army of Two is the only region locked game so far). So I buy almost all my games from the UK now (play.com)
They need to lower the prices of games for people to consider buying one. It's no fun when you need to buy a extra controller and a game and you have just added 1/4 of the original unit's price to your expenses.

A Xbox360 would be nice too but Netflix doesn't exist here... neither does the Video store on my PS3... WTF! Even Sony produced movies aren't rented out in the PSN Store because of f-ing licensing issues

Lucky for us Swedes we still have Piratebay ;)

Comment Why not all the +10Mbit/s ISP's in Sweden? (Score 3, Insightful) 400

Why don't do this to all the ISP's in Sweden?

2.6 Million Swedes apparently pirate software, music and movies every day. That's almost 1/3rd of the populace.

They make huge profits from this but in no way are they trying to hinder the use of p2p, well some try to filter it but that doesn't help very much.

D&D Co-Creator Gary Gygax Has Passed Away 512

Mearlus writes "In the recent past co-creator of Dungeons and Dragons Gary Gygax has worked with Troll Lord Games, a small tabletop RPG publisher. Their forums have up a post noting that Mr. Gygax has apparently passed away. Gygax was known, along with Dave Arneson, as the Father of Roleplaying." Saddened reactions from well-known designers have already begun to appear online. Consider this is an in-memoriam Ask Slashdot question: How has D&D (and tabletop roleplaying) touched/improved your life? Update: 03/04 23:16 GMT by Z : With more time, official announcements have had time to appear. Many sites are featuring posts on Gygax's impact on gaming, including touching entries on Salon and CNet.

Feed Kohjinsha's SA1F00V adds touchscreen -- still less than $1k (engadget.com)

Filed under: Handhelds, Laptops, Tablet PCs

So you liked Kohjinsha's sub-$1,000 SA1F00 ultra-ultra portable, eh? But man, if only it packed a touchscreen. We hear ya brother, we hear ya. Check it, Kohjinsha just announced the SA1F00V which not only adds a 100GB disk option (up from 80GB) but also slams in a touch-sensitive 7-inch panel for use with its built-in stylus or your conveniently built-in finger. Other than a slight increase in heft to 990-grams (2.2-pounds) and wee jump in MSRP to ¥99,800 ($843), the rest of the specs, including the 5-hour battery, remain unchanged. Yeah, same 500MHz Geode LX800 too which is quickly aging next to the latest class of UMPCs, MIDs, and mobile Intel procs. Still, if you want über portability on the cheap then this is about as good as it gets in this price range.
