Comment Disable Data Access? (Score 0) 520

I recently got a new phone with AT&T (LG CF360 if anyone cares). It has some buttons similar to the ones that people are complaining about here (one-touch access to an app that auto connects to the net). On top of that, the some of the menu screens can't be modified, so that several apps that I'll never use because they require a data plan, are locked in on the menu.

When I told the AT&T rep of my concerns about accidental data usage, he said they could just disable the data access.

I've hit those one-touch app buttons and accidentally selected "AT&T GPS" or some other app that requires data access, but all I ever get is "Cannot connect to server" or some similar message.

I wonder if Verizon phones have a similar option for people who don't want anything to do with a data plan.

BTW - I'm a Windows user, I don't have anything against Macs. They just don't have the options features that are important to me in my price range.

Pretty sure humans went to base-10 because we have 10 fingers. Still, that doesn't change the validity of your original statement that base-10 is lame and humans are not very smart.

Ok, everybody. There was a lot of talk about the name of this module. We are on the Colbert Report tonight to talk about what name we picked after all the submissions. Tonight, we are glad to announce that the name will be, Jonathan Stewart!

Actually, since we already call all of our Earth-bound toilets "Johns". Maybe we should start calling the ISS toilets "Colberts".

Back in my high school days, I was working on a group project about the northern deciduous forests. A relatively sheltered and naive young female classmate was in charge of the "wildlife" aspect of the environment.
Needless to say after typing "Beaver" into a Google search, she was very very confused at the search results. So yeah, accidental exposure happens if you don't know what NOT to be looking for.
I also remember back in the day, whitehouse.com lead to many accidental exposures. (.com != .gov)
