They could be serious.

I'm thinking they are very serious. Their "re-election" coffers are running low, and they need financial inducement from bribes, umm I mean "contributions" to increase H-1B numbers.

Otherwise, they threaten to decrease those numbers, causing corporations to actually pay people, instead of selling out their
jobs to the lowest bidder.

Arquette is the worst of the bunch. Regardless of the stories, the series is unwatchable. I tried once. Probably won't again.

Knowing she just won an oscar makes you question how she could be so bad in this show. I watch it for the LULs.

I don't. I tried to sign up with Yahoo a few weeks ago and got cockblocked by this. They required a mobile number.

Yeah, you think that's bad, I don't even have a computer or internet access and they wouldn't let me sign up.I must have sent them a dozen faxes and letters, and I'm still waiting for my so called "free" email account. Is it really "free" if it requires an expensive computer to use it!?

You should have either sent a clay tablet, or maybe a telegram.

Then again, Orwell did write that tyranny in UK would come in the guise of nationalism and security

Well, he isn't apparently suggesting the police or state should be able to place a camera in every home, just that it's a smart idea for a homeowner. Personally, I'd have thought that for anyone willing to pay for a home security system this would be a no brainer today. There's countless wireless enabled camera systems that are obviously going to be useful in the event of a burglary.

That said, it's a short term fix. As burglars become more aware of the presence of cameras, they'll start wearing a mask just like folk robbing stores and banks where CCTV is expected already do. Once outdoor cameras become more prevalent, they won't use your driveway to park. There might be a small deterrence factor that would encourage an opportunistic thief to go next door if they can see cameras outside your house, but equally you might just be advertising that you have stuff worth stealing.

I'd recommend a Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe mask.

The best part is "ISPs will be able to request compensation from the French government for any extra costs incurred in blocking the sites."

I wonder how much it will cost, and if "extra costs" includes the results of lawsuits for inappropriate blocks and subsequent loss of income.

I'm thinking that's not going to impress the FTC.

The good news is that Comcast is planning on losing 3.9 million customers to ease the approval process. NY could be a large chunk of that:
