Submission + - How to set up low-power digital TV station?

websta writes: "Question: With a next-to-zero budget, what would it take to broadcast low-power digital television? I understand the FCC takes applications for low-power digital TV stations at any time. Background: I have a background in web development, including streaming media, and over the past year, I started producing local television segments for a public access channel in our rural area. I'm using a Canon GL1 digital camcorder for capture, using Sony Vegas for editing and rendering to MPEG-2. To my surprise, these TV programs have gone over very well — mostly, I think, because the area is in dire need of more public information services. I am wondering about starting my own low-power television station. I've seen analog stations-on-a-rack on eBay for around $5k, but if digital TV is just MPEG-2 video over an RGB signal (just like a computer monitor??), could I just — more-or-less — hook up a TV antenna to my video card's output and be in business? Thank you for your help."
