In the scenario you describe, it looks like we need to go back to step one fix the root problem: it is badly described. We cannot build any system to high user satisfaction that is badly described. One can only start over and build from scratch. If that's not possible, we will have to break the problem down into manageable parts and dig deeper for root causes and solutions.

Maybe you should have presented YOUR solution. Telling the boss "no I won't do it" will get you nowhere. Telling him "Look at my better way of doing it" will get their attention. The best lesson I've learned in business is to never take a problem to my boss unless I bring with me a solution to solve it. If you can't solve the problem, find someone who can, or else the boss will. Business needs are not going to change.

I disagree, based on presumed innocence. If you accuse me of infringing on your patent, you should be required to provide proof, as would be the case in any other legal proceeding. If I'm charged with a crime, the burden is on the prosecution to prove my guilt. Consider also a civil case. if you accuse me of being negligent in keeping my floor clean, causing you to slip and fall, the burden is on the plaintiff to prove that the floor really was a mess and I was negligent in not cleaning it.

I've been using LogMeIn Free for years. I'm not a heavy user by any means. I used it to remotely control one of the home PCs when I'm out of town (which isn't often). If they want to take away the free access, fine. It's their product, they can do whatever they want with it.

But not giving any notice? That conveys a sense of contempt. It wasn't long ago when they caught hell from their userbase for re-directing their login to a page in India (log.in) without bothering to tell anyone. I'll be sure to recommend against their use for any future employer.
