I disagree, based on presumed innocence. If you accuse me of infringing on your patent, you should be required to provide proof, as would be the case in any other legal proceeding. If I'm charged with a crime, the burden is on the prosecution to prove my guilt. Consider also a civil case. if you accuse me of being negligent in keeping my floor clean, causing you to slip and fall, the burden is on the plaintiff to prove that the floor really was a mess and I was negligent in not cleaning it.

Comment With notice like that (Score 1) 408

I've been using LogMeIn Free for years. I'm not a heavy user by any means. I used it to remotely control one of the home PCs when I'm out of town (which isn't often). If they want to take away the free access, fine. It's their product, they can do whatever they want with it.

But not giving any notice? That conveys a sense of contempt. It wasn't long ago when they caught hell from their userbase for re-directing their login to a page in India (log.in) without bothering to tell anyone. I'll be sure to recommend against their use for any future employer.

Comment It depends on if you count maps & streaming au (Score 1) 140

When I'm on the road, I often I make heavy use of the smartphone to provide GPS w/ Google Maps and streaming audio to the car stereo. So strictly speaking, on a trip that's about 14 hours each way, the smartphone would win. But when I'm chillin' at my destination, I'll have the laptop on.

Comment Make lemonade (Score 1) 330

If I had the resources, I'd immediately launch a competitive, cross-platform VOIP/video service that plays nice and clean up by poaching Skype customers. It would take a massive, worldwide marketing campaign and lotsa servers and bandwidth, but the market is hungry for a competitor and this is a great catalyst for one.
