Phoghat writes: "Ford has now announced its Auto Start-Stop system will be added to conventional cars, crossovers and SUVs in North America from 2012. Formerly only available on the Fusion and Escape Hybrids it will spread the technology across its entire line around 2012.
The system, which uses an enhanced 12-volt car battery and upgraded starter motor, requires no changes in driver behavior. The engine restarts the instant the driver’s foot leaves the brake pedal and when the engine is off, all the vehicle’s accessories, such as the stereo, will function normally."

Submission + - L A Noire preview : finally the videogame that fee (telegraph.co.uk)

Phoghat writes: "Rockstar's L A Noire could be the most realistic videogame yet, utilizing
cutting edge technology to create extremely accurate characters and
    environments.
The woman I’m speaking to is lying. I don’t need to listen to what she’s saying; I can tell from her body language that she is unnerved by my questions. Her body is slightly turned away from me, her arms are folded and she is nervously chewing her bottom lip. Most telling, however, is the look in her eyes and the way that she refuses to make eye contact. The woman I’m referring to, however, isn’t real. She’s a computer generated representation of an actress playing a character in an upcoming video game called L A Noire."

There were reports of razor sharp teeth and claws and a lengthy whip-like tail with a split or flange at the end."

Phoghat writes: "Research scientists have used many animal species in investigating mind-altering drugs, but it may come as a surprise to learn that animals in the wild — from starlings to reindeer — also make use of psychoactive substances of their own accord.
It seems that many of these species have a natural desire to experience altered states of consciousness, and man may well have found his way to some of his favourite recreational drugs by observing the behaviour of animals."
