Comment Re:Physics of computing the universe (Score 1) 269

The problem with this is that you need to be outside the universe in order to do so

How about recursion? An atom is kind of like a solar system, a solar system is kind of like a galaxy, and a galaxy is kind of like the universe. (And perhaps the universe is kind of like the multiverse?)

I kind of jest, but not necessarily.

First, don't jump the second they need help. It may sound sadistic, but let them suffer for a while with their mistakes. Make them pay for the consequences of doing stupid things. Second, if the first doesn't work, make them pay (money) for it. Make their mistake hit their wallet. If you don't want to charge them (i sure as hell wouldn't), make them buy expensive antivirus. Make them have consequences. We have all seen spoiled children who are never disciplined. They never learn life lessons. They get everything they want. Make them live with their OWN mistakes. If they don't have consequences, what is their motivation to learn how to live on the web?

Yeah, Fox News is the ONLY biased television news organization. The rest of them are strictly objective. The fact that Fox is the only new organization that leans to the right of the spectrum, while every other news organization in the US leans left easily explains why Fox is so popular.

Submission + - ICANN to become international organization (guardian.co.uk)

Submission + - Verizon Refuses to Provide Complete IPv6 (rollernet.us)

Glendale2x writes: "I'm the progressive sort of guy and I want to go full dual-stack, IPv6 for the future, etc. However I recently tried to turn up a new Verizon circuit with IPv6 (after a 6 month fiber install process) and to my chagrin the order they accepted back in May they're now saying it's against their policy to provide. They're missing around 29% of the IPv6 internet and refuse to carry it. Tell me again how we're supposed to encourage IPv6 adoption when there's huge black holes like this?"

Submission + - Using Atom 330 with server applications (14.by)

BarsMonster writes: Since the time Atom-based nettop's became widely available, it was very tempting to put it in a datacenter and see if it can steal some jobs from 1U servers. I did so with my Acer Revo (Intel Atom 330), and want to share some benchmarks.
