Anti-Porn Facebook Page is Deleted, Then Restored 145

Slashdot regular contributor Bennett Haselton writes: "An anti-porn organization's Facebook page is disabled by Facebook, and then resurrected. Was the page the victim of a 'complaint mob,' and could the previously-discussed 'voting algorithm' have saved the page from being shut down?"

Submission + - Drug helps overwrite bad memories (scienceblog.com)

An anonymous reader writes: Recalling painful memories while under the influence of the drug metyrapone reduces the brain’s ability to re-record the negative emotions associated with them, according to a new study by a team of University of Montreal researchers. The finding challenges the theory that memories cannot be modified once they are stored in the brain. “Our findings may help people deal with traumatic events by offering them the opportunity to ‘write-over’ the emotional part of their memories during therapy,” said the team lead. One major hurdle, however, is the fact that metyrapone is no longer commercially produced.

Submission + - Skype issues software fix for Windows and Mac user (networkworld.com)

jbrodkin writes: "Skype has released a new version of its Windows software to fix the problem that prevented some users from logging in and making calls yesterday, and plans to issue a similar update to Mac users later today, the company said. Skype, which is in the process of being sold to Microsoft for $8.5 billion, previously gave users instructions on how to fix the problem, which involved deleting a "shared.xml" file. While Windows and Mac users are being given a software fix, Linux users still have to fix the problem manually (but they can handle it). Still unknown is what caused the Skype outage. Skype said it affected only a small percentage of users, but hasn't explained the cause. Skype has at least updated its status page to reflect the outage, however. Even after issuing yesterday's fix instructions, the status page had claimed for a while that sign in and registration were "all working normally.""

It's prohibited in most. Sure, if you get caught you get banned, but people still do it. If people didn't, you wouldn't have gold spammers posting every 5 minutes in different in-game channels. I tried out Rift and got my first gold spam before I reached level 3.

As for non-transferable, it just wouldn't work. You make money in those games by buying and selling virtual items. It needs to be tradeable.

XDA to the rescue. :)

Not only is the built in rendition of Android a giant pile of poop, it is a Jurassic Park, sick Triceratops, pile of poop. In fact, before I ran the OTA update, it would crash and Force Close programs *constantly*. The G Tablet lasted all of 24 hours in my possession before it had been rooted and flashed with VEGAn-Tab.

Razer Unveils Portable Gaming Device Concept 66

MerelyASetback writes "Razer has shown a new concept for a gaming device that uses a pair of 7-inch multitouch displays as well as a layer of tactile, dynamic keys on the lower screen. Much like the Optimus Maximus of yesteryear, this keyboard would enable gamers to place different screens underneath depending on the title, and even within a game — you could imagine the keys shifting to account for different POVs, levels, scenarios, etc. Internally, the concept is based around an Intel Atom processor, but there's no word on what kind of GPU would work alongside of it."
