Comment I applaud this action (Score 1) 130

How easily people forget and get in to a comfort zone. When Microsoft first announced switching to a patch Tuesday email, everybody on /. criticized them for waiting up to a week to announce 0-day vulnerabilities and patch information.

A once a week email is close to worthless. It's better to leave vulnerability notification to people who are serious about it and stop wasting Internet bandwidth, cycles. and storage.

Imagine you are just standing there and then WHAM! a very large soap bubble slams in to you and all of a sudden you are inside the bubble and the bubble happened to close in around you without popping. You are now inside the bubble and you are still a distinguishable unit of matter detectable from the bubble you're now inside.

The same could be said about metallurgy, cnc mills, caustic chemicals, drugs (legal or illegal), a 1 year old and eating utensils. The list goes on and on and on. Just because something requires knowledge to be done safely doesn't mean people shouldn't have the freedom to explore such things at their own risk.

As a proud contributor to the ISEE-3 reboot project, I'd like to highlight that after communicating with the satellite, they discovered that the trajectory was over 200,000 km off where the predictions indicated it should be and its trajectory was specifically placing it in danger of impacting the moon. I would like to congratulate the ISEE-3 team on helping avoid a man-made impact with our moon.
