That speaking (what you genuinely think is) the truth offends people, is a sign that we gave special treatment to religious ideas for too long. -_-

This would imply that there are true religions.
Jobs wanted to sell stuff, and he managed to do that.
Torvalds wanted to write an awesome kernel, and he did that brilliantly.
Even if they have the same assholeness, they also have different goals.
I do agree with everything you say.
The fact that my sarcasm is not taken as such is even more troubling.
A step closer to dictatorship...
Where are all the 2nd Amendment stalwart protectors now, those bastions of freedom?
Where are those who need their guns to rise in arms against a tyrannical government?
Where are those explaining that the first thing that a dictatorship does is to take away your guns?
How much do I have to wait, how far will this go, before I see them putting their money where their mouth is?
This assumes that the govt officials are not in the corporation's pockets and have the taxpayers best interests at heart.
Are you that naive?
I don't really understand two things of the US:
1) The obsession with the Founding Fathers.
Can't you just decide what is best for you NOW without trying to interpret their words as if it was the Bible?
2) The obsession for violent ousting of a tyrant.
You like guns, you want guns, you know... it's ok.
But don't go around telling bullshit about rising in arms against a tyrannical government.
Your President can order arrest, torture and assassination of any US citizens.
What about the Patriot Act?
What about all the propaganda, all the lies?
They just scream "Terror! Think of the children! Jump!" and you ask "How high?"
Your gun in hand, you are just waiting for your dear government to tell you where to shoot.
Do you really, seriously think that the government is afraid of your guns?
So stop deceiving yourself, the time to rise in arms is passed, you don't give a shit about freedom, you just want the guns and possibly someone to shoot.
...it is a matter of allowing the parents to mourn their kids.
One thing is free speech, one thing is disruption.
As a rabid atheist, I wouldn't go in a church and scream that they believe bullshit.
This has nothing to do with free speech.
There should be some protection for those who want to mourn their dead.
If the law does not provide, the citizens usually must take initiative, forcing the law to follow.
Fair then.
I do agree with your analysis.
Indeed.
The US (but not only the US) seems to glorify the violent resolution of problems.
I think this mentality creeps into the people and could push loonies into violence.
So are bombs legal?
You telling me that bombs are legal in the US? oO
Or maybe the US is a country with a violent cowboy mentality and, regardless of the gun laws of specific states, weapons circulate freely...
Just sayin'....
Do you realize that Grenland has a population of few K?
By your very map, Europe appears much lighter than the US.
After 31 or so school shootings you'd think people would talk about how to prevent this from happening again.
Discussing about gun laws seems legitimate.
