Not really. If you're the kind of person who builds custom computers, when you call them up just say you replaced the motherboard. If they really push (and I've never had a problem with that) then just say the previous one went bad and had to be RMA'd or replaced. They're happy to remove the old motherboard from the license and apply the license to your new one.

I think you're missing the part where the GUI and the OS are two different things.

Here's the deal. I am not a fan of Apple. If I weren't recommending a laptop to someone I would never recommend an Apple product. BUT! When it comes to laptops, Apple is really the only option. Why? Because you can walk down to the apple store and someone will fix any hardware problems for you. You can't get that with any PC maker. Heck, the best rated PC maker for customer support took a month to repair something for me, and that's after it took me weeks to get them to even look at it. If you think your laptop hardware is ever going to break or die within the timeframe of a warranty (hint: they almost always do), then Apple is really the only option.

You do realize that you can have Android without Google right? That Android and Google Play are not the same thing?

Of course it relies on centralized servers. Websites have to come from somewhere. Data has to be load-balanced. You don't download and upload a website with a database and hardware.

Really? You can draw on your laptop with a digitizer? What kind of laptop is it? Hint: some people need pen input.

Mobile app touchscreen games? Desktop games? Text based browser games? Console games? Furthermore, what genre? Shooters? Strategy? RPG? MMO? Action? Adventure? Sim? Sports?

Teaching them to program _what_ exactly? Robotics? Video games? Mobile Apps? You're going to have entirely different requirements depending on what you want to program.

I have one and haven't had the battery problem you did. Maybe yours is defective? The USB port charging is fine and mine idles for about a week (but then I have nothing running in the background).

I have the tablet. It's well built, bloat free, gets quick updates, has a tablet, has a good screen, is very fast, and is sized just right for me. Maybe it's not for everyone but I love mine. It IS a little pricey but I feel like I got my money's worth, which is the important part.
