It seems that a lot of people are generating FUD, again, because they want the system to fail.

The system is great, the games we have so far are fun, and that's probably about the same purchase rate as on the Wii. We have a PS3, but that is only used for watching movies, which I never thought would be the case. The games just aren't compelling.

The Wii U will do fine, and will sell many units when the 'big' Nintendo titles release.

The Wii did not play DVDs unless you modded it. The Wii U is now the only console that gets used in my house, and we still have all of the old ones hooked up and ready to go if desired. (Actually, the PS3 gets used for watching movies, but has been used for games only when trying the bundled games that one time). Also, the recent updates have fixed most of the other issues you complain of.

Not if you've had the "touch" site thrust upon you...

Looks the same, plays the same, but a little lag when PackageKit ran. Interesting that GNOME Shell notifications appear over the game. Can't wait for Portal 2 to be released so I can finally try two-player (I only have one machine that has a Windows install capable of running it).

There's a car manufactured over here and then shipped everywhere. It is three times as expensive in Australia as USA. "Cost of international shipping" is often used as a reason cars are so expensive over here, but things like this just make a mockery of such lies. I imagine the size of the market and number of potential customers has more to do with it than the tyranny of distance.

I did try it a few times, but each time it took me away from the article I had come to read and dumped me on the homepage. Unacceptable.

On the plus side, it did appear to load a lot quicker than the 'Classic' mode.

Dependency hell, as well as dpkg recalculating the dependencies after every modification to the list instead of waiting until the end. There were other problems, but all of their solutions involved adding packages and it quickly became so tedious it wasn't worth persisting with.

And it's not apt/deb. Deb is the whole reason I gave up on Linux for a decade and will never return to a Debian-based distibution. The problems with RPM you list in the second paragraph have happened to me in the past, but not for over two years and only when I was doing things "off the beaten track". Also, I understand the SPEC format and have no idea how Deb is easier. So, this boils down to opinion, and your opinion appears to be based on whimsy at best, rather than fact.

TL;DR: RPM's not the greatest solution (fact), but Apt/Deb is worse (opinion).
