I understand what you're saying, but (despite your snide confidence) I still think you're missing the point: there is no children's section! Wow, all this over the idea of providing a version of youtube targeted at children... I wonder if Sesame Street met such resistance on /. when it launched (how old is that show?)?

Agreed. Why is it so wrong and evil to accept the fact that many (definitely not all) stereotypes are actually correct?

It's one thing when you don't have any personal experience or regular interaction with whoever's being "stereotype'd", but I've been around enough humans (about half of which are female) to confirm this one.

Study Suggests Crabs Can Feel Pain 628

tritonman writes "A new scientific study suggests that crabs can feel and remember pain. From the article: '"More research is needed in this area where a potentially very large problem is being ignored," said Elwood. Legislation to protect crustaceans has been proposed but it is likely to cover only scientific research. Millions of crustacean are caught or reared in aquaculture for the food industry. There is no protection for these animals (with the possible exception of certain states in Australia) as the presumption is that they cannot experience pain.' Perhaps soon there will be a study to determine that vegetables feel pain as well, then all of the vegans will only be allowed to eat rocks."

Chimp Found Plotting Against Zoo Guests 435

rjshirts writes "In further proof that Planet of the Apes is coming to pass, researchers in Stockholm, Sweden have proof that primates can plan ahead. From the article: 'Santino the chimpanzee's anti-social behavior stunned both visitors and keepers at the Furuvik Zoo but fascinated researchers because it was so carefully prepared. According to a report in the journal Current Biology, the 31-year-old alpha male started building his weapons cache in the morning before the zoo opened, collecting rocks and knocking out disks from concrete boulders inside his enclosure. He waited until around midday before he unleashed a "hailstorm" of rocks against visitors, the study said.'"

I can't vouch for the direct translation in French, but it's interesting to see how words in certain phrases resemble words from different languages, especially in closely related languages like French and Portuguese.
In Portuguese:
Faz = do
meus = my
deveres = duties

Isn't the definition of a duty something that you're supposed to do??
