MIT Working On Industrial-Scale Graphene Printing Press 60

surewouldoutlaw writes "Hot on the heels of news that research into graphene is being funded by the NSF, MIT says it is working on an industrial-size graphene printing press for synthesizing sheets as large as 1-km square. The current record is 76 cm sq. Tomas Palacios, director of the Center for Graphene Devices and Systems, said, 'The way I approach graphene is different from most other researchers in this field. Ninety-nine percent of the papers on graphene have been written by physicists, focusing on amazing and unique properties of the material. I have the point of view of an engineer. I’m interested in finding the best applications for graphene’s unique properties.'"

Neal Stephenson Says Video Games Are the Metaverse 176

An anonymous reader writes "In an interview with Forbes Magazine, Neal Stephenson says the 'Metaverse' he created in his seminal novel Snow Crash missed the point — and that video games like World of Warcraft are the true future of cyberspace." Forbes writer David Ewalt seems taken with Stephenson's new book, REAMDE, which I'm looking forward to getting my hands on.

Murdoch Voicemail Hacking Story 'Ain't Over Yet' 113

lee317 writes "Reuters is reporting that Rupert Murdoch's headache over the alleged phone hacking by his News Corp's reporters could be small compared to what is ahead. So far, around 20 public figures who believe their voicemail messages were intercepted by journalists at the popular News of the World tabloid are suing News International, the UK newspaper arm of News Corp. After a public apology from the newspaper aimed at 'put(ting) this problem into a box,' a UK judge eluded to the fact that civil cases against the firm could run into next year at least."

Submission + - What happened to iFolder?

An anonymous reader writes: iFolder (www.ifolder.com) is a storage/backup tool that at one time had great possibilities for laptop users. Almost a year ago, iFolder updates have stopped completely and since then their are rumors that it has gone closed source as an update is expected to be release with OES 2 Sp1. With the sad state the Novell has left the iFolder community, has anyone found a good replacement to iFolder that shares many of the features?
