Actually, the price I quoted also applies to non-retina MBPs (even new ones). http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=Macnotebooks

As for keeping an old battery around to extend battery power for longer trips, this isn't rarely an issue on modern MBPs because they have crazy battery life.

Actually, Chrome OS is a stripped down linux with a custom UI. It runs Chrome web browser and Chrome apps. It should be noted that these apps aren't the restricted kind that you find inside of the browser. They have enhanced privileges so they can access things like the filesystem.

But your point is valid. I'd rather have Chrome OS (if my only choice is between Chrome OS and Android). Android apps scale like dogshit. If I had full choice, I'd go Windows 7 + Ubuntu 13.10. I don't need touch on my damned laptop or desktop!

lol...politics are already extorted and manipulated to an extreme degree even without any involvement from the NSA. Frankly, with all the fucked up shit going on, they're the least of my worries. I'm not saying they should be ignored but they're pretty low on the priority list imho. Wake me after we get the corporations out of our government and we do something about wage inequality. Until then, the NSA is more than welcome to ponder my Asian porn collection and my secret love for the reality show Pregnant in Heels.

So your argument is that it supports threading and that some programmers may create threads irresponsibly? Sorry, that's not a language flaw. I've been writing Java for over a dozen years now and I have to see a single instance where a Java app was cranking out threads like there was no tomorrow. I've seen Java apps that don't properly synchronize threads but never what you're talking about.

That's just it...nobody is knocking at your door. People on sites like /. and reddit rage against the NSA and the government every day and yet they are still around living their lives, continuing to whine about the government oppressing them. I'm not going to make excuses for any illegal actions on the part of the NSA. They should be investigated and dealt with to the fullest extent of the law and oversight should be strengthened. The same thing applies to Snowden. Just because you do a good thing doesn't excuse your bad things. He leaked everything he found regardless of whether it was illegal or not. The truth is that the vast majority of what the NSA does is legal. Most of it made so by the so called PATRIOT act. Don't blame the NSA for what the law has granted them. Change the law.

People on this site see this issue as extremely black and white with no nuance whatsoever and it's very frustrating to me. I don't love the NSA or Snowden and I don't hate the NSA or Snowden. They have both done good things and hey have both made mistakes and they should both pay for whatever mistakes they have made.
