And what from your list above, may I ask, can not be done on a laptop? And why is the laptop, which sits comfortably in your lap leaving your hands free, not more comfortable to watch movies?

So you had a crappy Macbook Pro (I am assuming since you seem to be a genuine Steve Jobs nut hugger) which fried your balls. How does that justify spending even more money on crappy products?

How about pope innocent VIII who persecuted "witches" by burning them alive?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pope_Innocent_VIII

I see no difference between Islam and Christianity. The Taliban behead, torture and bomb the innocent. The Catholics burned women at the stake. Religion is a curse on humanity. The sooner we get rid of it the better.

Judge Chin Says He Will Cut the Google Book Settlement 38

Miracle Jones writes "In a move that has shocked the publishing world, Judge Denny Chin has filed a brief saying that he has decided to cut the Google Book Settlement in half, letting Google host the first half of every book the company has scanned, and letting other interested stakeholders fight for the rights to the rest. 'We think this is a hard decision, but a fair one,' said John Peter Franks for Google. 'We would like to be able to host and control whole books, but at least we get the front half.'"

You're an idiot and did not even read the summary carefully.

Let me summarize TFA for you. Chrome does not have a search box, only a single box that is used to type URLs as well as queries. Therefore, even if you don't do a query and type a simple URL, the entry is sent to Google. Whereas in IE, only characters entered in the search box are sent to the search engine and the URLs entered in the address box are not sent to a search engine.

That is the issue.

JPL Background Check Case Reaches Supreme Court 112

Dthief writes "A long-running legal battle between the United States government and a group of 29 scientists and engineers of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) in Pasadena, California, has now reached the US Supreme Court." At issue: mandatory background checks for scientists and engineers working at JPL, which they allege includes snooping into their sexual orientation, as well as their mental and physical health.

North Korea's Own OS, Red Star 316

klaasb writes "North Korea's self-developed computer operating system, named 'Red Star,' was brought to light for the first time by a Russian satellite broadcaster yesterday. North Korea's top IT experts began developing the Red Star in 2006, but its composition and operation mechanisms were unknown until the internet version of the Russia Today TV program featured the system, citing the blog of a Russian student who goes to the Kim Il-sung University in Pyongyang."

Man Swallows USB Flash Drive Evidence 199

SlideRuleGuy writes "In a bold and bizarre attempt to destroy evidence seized during a federal raid, a New York City man grabbed a flash drive and swallowed the data storage device while in the custody of Secret Service agents. Records show Florin Necula ingested the Kingston flash drive shortly after his January 21 arrest outside a bank in Queens. A Kingston executive said it was unclear if stomach acid could damage one of their drives. 'As you might imagine, we have no actual experience with someone swallowing a USB.' I imagine that would be rather painful. But did he follow his mother's advice and chew thoroughly, first? Apparently not, as the drive was surgically recovered."

NHS Should Stop Funding Homeopathy, Says Parliamentary Committee 507

An anonymous reader writes "Homeopathic remedies work no better than placebos, and so should no longer be paid for by the UK National Health Service, a committee of British members of parliament has concluded. In preparing its report, the committee, which scrutinizes the evidence behind government policies, took evidence from scientists and homeopaths, and reviewed numerous reports and scientific investigations into homeopathy. It found no evidence that such treatments work beyond providing a placebo effect." Updated 201025 19:40 GMT by timothy: This recommendation has some people up in arms.

What is a Google? How is it related to news?

But seriously, I've never used Google to search for news. I have a list of all my favorite newspapers (and news sites) bookmarked in my browser. Is this not what most people do? I would expect this to be the default behavior if you wanted to move from paper based newspapers to Internet based.
