Submission + - The Ethics of Hacking

An anonymous reader writes: I have to write a 10-page paper on the ethics of hacking. It is a confusing subject and there is much disagreement. The best admins have done a lot of grey and maybe even black hat hacking themselves, which is why they know how to secure a network. How far can you go when messing around in other peoples' networks? Is it ethical to put exploits you find up for bid? Even in regular white-hat IT ethics often collide with work. Any examples from personal experience or links to good articles are appreciated.

A study by Israeli doctors of mountain climbers in Africa found a correlation between erectile dysfunction drugs and improved performance in high altitudes. It looks like this already tough job is about to get a lot harder.

If the people who run Woolworth's website had ever read the famous Nabokov novel, seen one of the 2 movies based on it or listened to the police in the 80's they might have known that calling a line of beds for little girls, the Lolita line, wasn't the best Idea. "Now this has been brought to our attention, the product has been removed from sale with immediate effect. We will be talking to the supplier with regard to how the branding came about." says the company. Other controversial products like the Cobain trigger lock and Ahmadinejad's big book of fictional atrocities are still on the shelves.
