Comment Re:Sony's angle (Score 1) 349

You're misrepresenting the trend, while PS3 has caught up with the 360 in the sale of some games, it has in no was surpassed the xbox 360 in all areas.
Examples Include (using the same site as you, vgcharts.com):

CoD:MW2
PS3 sales:7.82m
x360 sales: 10.69m

BF:BC2
PS3 sales:1.40m
x360 sales: 2.05m

NBA 2K10
PS3 sales:0.64m
x360 sales: 0.75m

Major League Baseball 2K10
PS3 sales:0.64m
x360 sales:0.06m

Just Cause 2
PS3 sales:0.40m
x360 sales:0.42m

As you can see, PS3 is in no way "destroying" the xbox 360 in terms of game sales.

Man Fined $1.5 Million For Leaked Mario Game 287

An anonymous reader writes "A Queensland man will have to pay Nintendo $1.5 million in damages after illegally copying and uploading one of its recent games to the internet ahead of its release, the gaming giant says. Nintendo said the loss was caused when James Burt made New Super Mario Bros Wii available for illegal download a week ahead of its official Australian release in November of last year. Nintendo applied for and was granted a search order by the Federal Court, forcing Burt to disclose the whereabouts of all his computers, disks and electronic storage devices in November. He was also ordered to allow access, including passwords, to his social networking sites, email accounts and websites."

Stargate Universe 829

Last night I finally scraped together the two hours to watch the premiere of Stargate Universe. Since the last two series really ran their course and deserved to end, I was skeptical. At first blush it appears that the show is just Atlantis + Voyager, shot in the documentary style that practically every sci-fi show since Firefly uses. But I enjoyed it, and figured we should have a place to discuss it. The TV landscape needs more real, good sci-fi: there's not a lot of it left, even on the moronically renamed Syfy channel. But maybe this one will have a solid season. I just hope that future episodes don't have so many commercials. I couldn't believe how many ads appeared during this thing.

I've tried to find a list of the new features but I can't find anywhere with what looks like a complete one. Anyone want to help me out here? All I've noticed are that things look slightly different and then a couple things here and there.

My laptop lasts less than an hour now but my younger sister's acer aspire one (with the 6-cell battery option) lasts just over 5 hours WHILE using wifi. I'm jealous every time I go home. Needless to say I know what my next purchase is going to be.

Submission + - P2P Chat Setup?

ki4hrg writes: Beginning next year, my class in school will all be receiving laptops from the school system to get full use of (as in, we take them home every night, use them in class daily, have full rights to install software, etc.) until we graduate. I'm looking into options for allowing us to chat with each other via our laptops, but am running into problems with the school's network blocking all normal protocols. My ideal would be some sort of peer-to-peer setup that could run entirely from within the existing network (or could easily be managed by me setting up an ad hoc network from my laptop) where traffic is mostly unfiltered, although I'm up for other ideas. Obviously, cost is a concern so I'm mainly looking for FOSS solutions. It also needs to be reasonably user-friendly since the majority of my class is not especially knowledgeable when it comes to computers. Any recommendations?
