Comment Never had a problem with MSI (Score 1) 352

I have been using MSI motherboards since the late 90s with never a single problem. I am presently putting together a cluster based on MSI 970A-G46 9 AM3+ motherboards, quad core Phenom processors etc... CentOS 6.3 is perfectly happy with it... Not sure what distro you are using, but it sounds more like the Linux version you are using isn't supporting current hardware, instead of non standard hardware... I've been known to be wrong before though.

Submission + - NASA Building Network of Smart Cameras Across US (singularityhub.com)

kkleiner writes: "A major government agency is looking to blanket the US with cameras that will never stop their surveillance. But don’t worry privacy pundits, those cameras will be spying on the sky, not civilians. NASA’s All-sky Fireball Network is a series of cameras that track meteorites as they enter the atmosphere. With careful triangulation, NASA can not only know where the meteorites will land, they can determine where they came from as well. One of the coolest parts of the All-sky Fireball Network is that it’s fully automated. Meteors are detected by a computer which sends images, video clips, and data analysis to William Cooke, head of NASA’s Meteoroid Environment Office. Now you can get the same information as Cooke, too – the All-sky Fireball Network’s website publicly records all the data for you to peruse."

Submission + - Potential Threat Looming From Japan's Mount Fuji? (wikipedia.org)

Torn8-R writes: "On November 17th, 1707, a large earthquake near Osaka triggered a tsunami and the event totaled about 5,000 casualties. Just over a month later, on December 16, Mount Fuji erupted which lasted until New Year's Day. With its last eruption over 300 years ago, could the latest earthquake (and the subsequent aftershocks) foreshadow a new threat to add to this already devastating natural disaster?"

Don't forget to pay your $699 SCO licensing fee, you cock-smoking teabaggers.

Now wait just a second here... What on earth does SCO, the Tea Party, and sausage suckers have to do with each other? Last time I checked the party of sausage suckers and tool polishers was the Democrats, the party of business was the republicans. The Tea Party folks, as far as I can tell are more aligned with the libertarians, maybe a little bit more socially conservative, but still pretty libertarian in their viewpoints... Smaller government, lower taxes, etc... No matter how you slice it, when it comes to American politics and government, it's all bologna anyway...

Bill To Ban All Salt In Restaurant Cooking 794

lord_rotorooter writes "Felix Ortiz, D-Brooklyn, introduced a bill that would ruin restaurant food and baked goods as we know them. The measure (if passed) would ban the use of all forms of salt in the preparation and cooking of food for all restaurants or bakeries. While the use of too much salt can contribute to health problems, the complete banning of salt would have negative impacts on food chemistry. Not only does salt enhance flavor, it controls bacteria, slows yeast activity and strengthens dough by tightening gluten. Salt also inhibits the growth of microbes that spoil cheese."

Microsoft Sends Flowers To Internet Explorer 6 Funeral 151

Apparently Microsoft, in a rare moment of self-jest, took the time to send flowers, condolences, and a promise to meet at MIX. The card reads: "Thanks for the good times IE6, see you all @ MIX when we show a little piece of IE Heaven. The Internet Explorer Team @ Microsoft."

'The one interesting bit that I found recently in one of my briefs on the poppy industry was that we have a problem with wallabies entering poppy fields, getting as high as a kite and going around in circles,' says Lara Giddings, the attorney general for the island state of Tasmania. 'Then they crash,' she added."

But I honestly believe Parental involvement is a KEY factor in controlling the development of a child. If I were issuing the grade it would be F -. If you believe that Violent video games have a damaging impact on your child, and then you bring a game console into your home, allow your child an allowance, and do not monitor that child's usage of said console, or time spent with his / her friends, what right do you have in being surprised when your child is impacted by something you do not approve of. It's not the government's, nor is it the media industries job to raise YOUR child. Be an adult and do your job!
