About 5 seconds after midnight GMT a Java server app running on my Debian Squeeze server decided it was going to eat-up ALL THE THINGS and for some reason, the server rebooted itself. Glad to know I wasn't alone in shitting myself over odd behaviours.

I've been using the same thing since Ubuntu drove the bus off a cliff with Gnome3 a year or so ago. I never really was into the "make look pretty" aspect of customizing a desktop. XFCE4 is just so damn flexible. I still have yet to run into a limitation of my own personal and development uses.

Estimated? Hell, measured by .5 of actual. What about the places with emissions checks on vehicles? If the findings in this study are true, I want every fucking dime that I've spent on emissions checks over the years back.

I agreed up until the SSD bit. Yes, there does need to be some geographic diversity in manufacturing. I'm still not 100% sold on SSDs for Terabytes of information.

But I have to wonder why people get infections in the first place. Was it that back in 1992 there were less people seeking medical treatment? No. But plausible. Could it be that healthcare is now run more like a fast food joint where patients are in and out in no time in order to increase bed turnover and, in turn, profit for the hospitals and medical groups? Absolutely.

Some programs that are relatively simple and should load next to instantly, I can see this argument fitting. But when you get into larger, more bloated programs (E.g. Anything using Java) should have the splash screen just to keep me from double clicking on the damn launcher again and let me know it's thinking about loading.

Because that would be somewhat unscientific. A lab setting is controllable and you would be able to trigger and know where latency is coming from and how to correct certain behaviors in software. With the real internet, it's anyone's guess where lag is coming from.

And nor have I. I've transferred all of my domains and cancelled all services I had through them. This was not without great expense, but fuck them. I would rather give my money to someone that doesn't want to act as a cop.

First off, your relatives suck for not even having the common decency of feigning appreciation. Second, this was a learning experience. I was planning on doing this same thing this year for Christmas. Now it's off to buy giftcards: something I hate doing.
